Loving and respecting parents is good but don't make them God or equal to god.
They are human and do have human's impurities and irregularities. They also can get insecure and selfish sometimes and it doesn't mean their each and every decision will be in your favor always. If there such time comes there is difference between what you want or what they want. You need not to compromise for them because they are important. You are first priority for yourself and towards your happiness and self satisfaction.
I did that mistake and I regret.
It wasn't a question of whether approval from parents was needed for a relationship, but a question of your own character and if someone like you would be good for your kid
I never did any mistakes in relationship. I took my time and had relationship only when I was ready for it and mentally matured at the age of 25
But yeh my answer was not regarding relationship or approval of parents but it was about my own character only. I was the person who used to trust my family and my parents more than anything and that was my mistake. It cost me 8 years long depression. So for my kids I'll also say that never make me god. Listen their own heart never compromise with what they love just because I don't see them right.
@StarWarGirl I apologize. Somehow I thought you responded to another one of my questions and responded based on that. Your opinion here is completely relevant.
Going with someone and staying with him just because he could "save me". And always running away when things get tough..
Having a shitty past is not an excuse to be shitty towards others. I used to blame the world for not understanding what it's like to grow up in a violent and abusive household. That's not for the world to understand, it's for me to understand so that I can become better than my parents were.
Proud of you becoming enlightened like that man
Don’t go to jail. And if you ever have the police in your face do not say a fucking word. Don’t tell them shit. Remember, they’re not your friends. Fuck the cops.
