Difficult question to answer. Thinking back, I wanted to move out of my parent's place at all cost when I was 18 but I came soon to realize that life by yourself is not as rosy as I thought it would be.

It was more difficult because I realized that nobody would have my back while I was all by myself. It is nice to become independent but it is also a lesson in humility.

When you live at home, you always have someone to support you, at least in my family, but being all by yourself, you have to learn that things can be more difficult and challenging.

Thinking back, I would say that I was not really prepared and that I should have waited another year or two.

You already know that I didn't come from the same supportive background like you did. I wish I had.

I was forced to move out of my mom's place because she had a wacky boyfriend who was going to rape me if I hadn't locked 🔒 my bedroom door one night. And that was the last night I spent living with my mom.

I was 17 and had just graduated from high school a few days before she told me of what her boyfriend's intentions were with me.

I packed my suitcase and moved in with my boyfriend and his mother in their house. His father had recently passed away just before I moved in with them.

His mother was not a shy woman. She made me fully aware that she wanted HER house back! Time for me to go!

Luckily I was already working and I got my first apartment and lived by myself. My boyfriend never slept over either.

My apartment was two blocks away from the Pacific Ocean in San Francisco, California. The streetcar stop was practically right outside of my front door and that's how I got around, and to work and back.

My apartment was on the bottom floor and right in front of the sidewalk. It was also right next door to a rowdy bar. 🍺🍻🍷 That did scare me a little bit.

But ever since then I have mostly lived my life alone just as I am right now.

I really don't mind living by myself. There's just one thing that I have always hated though. I don't know how to fix things and can't assemble things by myself. If I was a whiz bang at fixing things, my life would be just fine.

Life can throw its meanest things at you and I am sorry that you had to endure all those challenges but at the same time, it opened your eyes and made you who you are now.

You can be proud of your life achievement.

I regret that I never asked my high school crush out. I was a scared kid.

Everything since... I'm satisfied I made the decision I could make with the capabilities I had at the time. My decisions sit fine with me.
