Say you liked someone, and after some time, you get with them. But later, they condeded that they had their own crush on someone else, who wasn't interested. And you happen to be someone that liked them back so they got with you, making you a second option.

If you choose to break up, keep in mind this is your crush. He/she is someone you really like.

This question will make sense if you read that (please give your advice in there as well!).

Should the girl choose the other guy, should I maintain a friendship with her? I really enjoy being her friend. We can talk about ANYTHING, be ourselves, she's there when I'm struggling, etc. I can't be all those things with my other friends. She's the complete package as a friend (and romantic partner).

A part of me is saying no, consider my feelings. It'll be hard knowing she's with another guy. Maybe we can be friends down the road again once I've moved on from her (which will be hard, since I never got over her in the five-ish months we stopped talking).

Another part of me says that it would be selfish to end a friendship with her. She considers me her best friend as well. So should I put my feelings in the back-burner and maintain a friendship despite her decided not to choose me. At 26, I doubt I'll find another firend of the like her.

What would y'all do in this situation?
