I can't tell you yes or no. I will tell you this , I believe in God, I have never read the bible but for some reason I know things that are in thete,, there's a lot of people who say they don't believe in God because they say he wouldn't let people starve or he wouldn't let bad things happen. My belief is this God gave us a gift all of us every single one of us a gift I'm not sure but I believe that the Bible tells us who to be how to be. Common Sense tells us how to be, who to be. When we are born we are all given a gift that gift is more powerful than the word love talk. And that gift is choice every single thing we do from the moment we wake up till we go to sleep we make choices we get your pic we want to be in life by the things we say and do.
Have you ever heard of cause and effect. I don't know about you but if I was starving I would get food I would go to work I don't care where I had to go I would go so I can eat so my family could eat it is a choice and when you let yourself go so far it's not your choice anymore because you have no more energy no more power people killing people that's People's Choice that's not God's choice I believe that the Bible is full of examples
    With choice you get
God devil wrong right. Yes no. Love hate. Positive negative. Right left. Good bad. And 500 more examples
Whatever choice you make in life it's one of the other. I'm not sure but I think the Bible says you have to have faith
You knew everything about our body and what it does every single day you would be totally amazed I mean we have two hearts we have two brains we are made of energy everything on this planet that is living is made of energy no in time if we just evolved or something we could not be built any more perfect ER every living thing ties together every choice we make affects somebody else you're going to hear a lot of people say that they don't believe in God that's their choice do you have a reason that's okay for me I believe in God and I have a reason I don't go to church because I don't like a man standing up in front of me tells me he just read a paragraph in the Bible and he tries to tell me what it means or what he believed it means and that I need to believe him I cannot do that so what I can do is I could read that paragraph and I could determine for myself what it means too many preachers stand up it's okay if you don't believe in this year if you don't believe in that you're going to hell boat he's not my God so I don't believe him it's not that he's right or wrong because I don't believe in somebody telling me something that I can find it out myself just because he sees it was way doesn't mean it's that way so all I can say is you have the choice to believe or not to believe for me I believe with all my heart

As G. K. Chesterton wrote, “It is absurd for the Evolutionist to complain that it is unthinkable for an admittedly unthinkable God to make everything out of nothing, and then pretend that it is more thinkable that nothing should turn itself into everything.”

The paradox is that the atheist is as extreme in his way as is the religious fanatic. Because the atheist sees evil in the world, he jumps to the conclusion that there must therefore be no God.

This presents two problems. First, if there is nothing but the impersonal forces of nature and the laws of physics, then there is no free will. Every thought, every action is predetermined by the intermix of molecular and physical reactions. Nothing can be other than what it is.

The problem then becomes that your belief that God does not exist is then also a simple biochemical molecular reaction. You came to the only conclusion that your physiological structure predetermined you would.

However, if that is true, then your conclusion is no more valid than the opposite conclusion. It was simply the luck of the draw of your brain's electro-chemical reactions and you end up in an intellectual hall of mirrors.

In that connection, atheism tends to premised on a rejection of the idea of God in the absence of proof of His benevolence. This leaves the atheist effectively rejecting only one vision of God - namely the Judeo-Christian version. In truth, there are other conceptions of God. (For example, the ancient Greeks believed that the gods were arbitrary and capricious.)

The second point is that if everything in the universe must have a beginning, then logically something must stand outside the universe to start the universe itself. Chesterton's point stands and is a reflection of Aquinas' view of God as the first cause of all things.

The funny part is that the atheist argues that the universe is more complex than religion. Yet their own explanation is, itself, an oversimplification. Order does not spontaneously come from chaos without something outside itself to impose order. Similarly, if all things existing must start, then something must exist outside of it to start it.

Yet the atheist's problem remains. That the order of existence came from chaos absent something to give it order. It just happened - with the caveat that we don't know how - but it happened within existence because existence is all there is.

That is a presumption - and a problem - for atheism.

If yes, then it is a sadist. Why would it create ton of useless creatures to make them suffer on earth and punish them in hell if they dont believe in it? That is literally what a sadist would do. A rapist can still go to heaven after it's punishment in hell but a good non believer would not. So a rapist is still better than a normal non believer who did not hurt anyone according to this logic. Many religions are also very sexist.

Well it differs from person to person
Certain people are atheists, so god does not exist for them.
Religious folk strongly believe in this stuff.
Some believe that it's not god, but some strong and supernatural force
Some think it's a group of forces
Some may say it's all an illusion created to distract humans from aliens

As for your question, I don't know. Is there?

    Romans 1: 18 - 32
    18. The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19. since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

    21. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23. and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

    24. Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

    26. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

    28. Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30. slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31. they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

in my young age although I was born a Muslim and supposedly I should inherit my belief without thinking, instead I was so curious. So I wandered to learn about all theologies, faiths, religions,.. etc. in search of God.
I have also been so fond of science because of the technologies around me.
At the end of it, I realised that I was searching for certainity and NOT belief.
Eventually I came to the conclusion that the closest view about God to scientific truth is that in spirituality. Basically in philosophical Sufism they look at God as "awareness /love". And it's very rational if you think of it, no matter what is your religion you can view it from this perspective. Personally I find it very hard not to believe in God.
And if someone is asking my advice, it would be "believe in God rationally", the best thing that can help you is a book written and is translated to many languages by Elif Safaq and it's called "The 40 Rules of Love"
I don't like to market books, but it helped me a great deal to understand the world around me without giving up faith in God. Still though I suffered great deal as a mellinial from this whole belief thing ugh 😅.

I think this could be the case in your generation. I have grown up as an intellectual since I was a teenager, I used to get silenced and shut down because I have used my brain to adopt such views. I don't want to be like the olden ones who belittled anyone younger than them, but I will say to you, good job! learn, read, try to better yourself. And always remember that just because older people struggle with expression, doesn't mean that they know less. 😊

A God - probably. The God - NO.

I think the closest representation of God would be the idea of the force that holds the universe in place and the thing that created the basic rules of our universe, as in gravity, and the attraction of molecules that started this whole mess.

But besides this, God is a purely made up concept to give humans throughout the years a thing to believe in, so that they will learn to become more human and less animals, as in to stop killing each other for the fun of it, and to be able to create a basic set of rules so that we could become a society. If one thing has helped us learn throughout the ages is fear. And by making people fear of an almighty creature that will punish them, we managed to educate the humanity.

And also, in the prehistoric days, people used to worship the fire, because they didn't understand it and when something caught on fire it looked like a divine force made that happen (bonus points for lightning during thunderstorms).

Also, if I am not wrong, I thing God is also a word that in some language meant something along the lines of "the one who we obey", which proves my point that this is just a concept to bring people together and to make them better humans. Of course, many wars started because of the many gods different communities created, but that is not the point of this.

I think there is a non-zero chance that one or more entities in this universe that could be considered "god-like" exist (s). I am however quite certain that none of the gods worshiped on earth exist, or at least none of them are actually as described by their followers.

But I think faith is a personal matter. There is no harm in believing in a god if that helps one live a good, happy life. It only becomes a problem when one starts insisting that everyone else share in their belief, and are prepared to harm others over it.

No one knows for sure. For many people the mere idea of there not being a god gives them a sense of existential dread so deep that they are incapable of entertaining the idea. They go so far as to say atheism is impossible.

For other people, the idea is clearly a bronze age superstition to comfort those afraid of dying, and probably emerged as a wise mans idea to make stronger stupider leaders follow good ideas.

"Hey Tharg! Don't fuck your daughter!"
    "Why not?"
"Big invisible man in the sky will punish you."

I think there is. Even if you take away the Christian religion and focus on the science. In the beginning when it was only single cell organisms. The odds of the right single cell organisms finding each other to create multiple cell organisms creating living creatures are virtually impossible without some divine intervention. Plus when I used to pray every day strangely enough I got everything I prayed for. I wasn't praying for unrealistic things though. Also I should have been dead many times over, I should have been in prison for life, I should have caught diseases for carelessness. No matter how bad I have made my life it should have been worse but something has protected me and I'd say it's god

Yes, god made us to eat plants and animals, then created animals to eat other animals then created plants to eat insects or just get there energy from the sun. He created lot's of things that can live by eating something living which will then cause the other living thing to suffer. Rather than just make us all get energy from the sun and no need for violence.
But sure god exists the same one preaching to get rid of violence yep that makes sense.

Also hawkings explains through his research of black holes that god cannot exist or well it just wouldn't matter even if he did. Because black holes prove something can exist without a cause. Therefore no need for a creator.

I believe God exists, but he is in a dimension that we can't fathom. It's like an insect being looked at by a man with a magnifying glass. The insect might think there is 'something' there, but doesn't know how to comprehend what it is. The man could feed the insect, ignore the insect, or stomp it out of existence. The insect also can't comprehend what continent it's on, or that 75% of the Earth is covered in water. That's kind of where we are with God. It's a matter of faith that God looks after us, and cares about us. According to passages in the Bible, God really does love us, even if we do dumb things that annoy him.

There have been hundreds and hundreds of them throughout history. Humans have been creating gods for millennia and there are still dozens of them that are actively worshiped by humans around the globe, so you have many to choose from if you are looking for one to fir your needs.

I just wish one of them would come out and say he is the real one. You know, show is face and say "hey, I'm real and I'm here". I think that would go a long toward developing faith.

Of course, then he would have to explain himself, cos there is a lot of shit in this world to account for. I'd really like to hear him explain all the pain and misery he has created. I mean, I'm sure he has his reasons for it, I just would like to know what they are.

Yes. There without a doubt is one. Actually, there could be many deities but only the god of the bible and Jesus are the best things to believe in. I confess that Jesus can forgive and pardon sin so that you can get on with being happy, not die in sin, and be healed spiritually. He can give you a newness of mind too! Restore your conscience and heal your path and erase transgressions! God sent his son, Jesus, so that he can do that for you and ANYONE who believes. To me now, I do not rely on my own righteousness and compare myself to others anymore. that used to get me depressed. Nor see any of my former transgression. Bible prophecy is happening all the time as we speak. Although school got infiltrated with people that are clearly foolish with all unrighteousness, they seem to be more disobedient in their teaching and laugh at themselves, get depressed and spew hatred and venom in the classroom. There are false teachers in this life and truthful teaching in this life...

While I believe there is a superior being or beings, I don’t think of it/ them as a God or Gods in the sense of religiosity, more like technologically advanced alien life forms. To me, organized religion is a sham, a crutch for the weak minded, a device for controlling people and making them fearful. I realized this when I lived in Central Texas. An Army vet started up a church and in order to apply to be a member you had to submit your financials and ok a credit check, sign an agreement to turn over 30% of your income directly to the church. I pondered that after I told them to go fuck themselves with a cactus and realized it’s the same with every organized religion, only some aren’t so brazen about taking your money.

I suggest you carefully read Chapters 5, 6, and 7 of the Gospel of Matthew. This is the heart and soul of Jesus' teachings. Consider his emphasis on how we treat each other, our families, friends, strangers and even our enemies. In 5:23 he says not to consider God until you have reconciled with your brother. Overall it seems to me that our first concern is not God but how we treat each other - with love, compassion, forgiveness. It is a big ask but it is what Jesus teaches. God wants peace on earth more than She wants hymns and prayers. Don't worry about God. Worry about me (and everyone else).

From a book of writings that has been edited and rewritten how many times through the ages to adjust to changing times and morals. The Bible was rewritten to be less “ scary” too. I’m scaptical.

@rcljr Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. So when Jesus says he came to perfect the law is he not unfolding God's will on earth? As a Christian I follow the teachings of Jesus which are exceptionally difficult and somewhat intimidating and very far from less 'scary' ("Consider Matthew 6: 14 - 15 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." - now that's scary!)
but if accepted are the path to peace on earth and goodwill to all.

The rational will simply say that they don't know. And that's because we really don't have enough evidence to produce undeniably true conclusions for or against the existence of God. We're simply too limited right now. So, I believe that trying to figure it out is a futile endeavor unless it's through science. That is the only way we understand the physical world. Not through our imagination based on biased &/or incorrect wishes.

    Ask yourself these questions.

If God doesn't exist, how is it that the Prophecy written thousands of years ago just as it is written unfolding before right before our very eyes with absolute pinpoint accuracy? That alone should give you the answer. Next question. Are you saved?

Good question! but its not debatable , first of all its each individuals belief different, and whatever you think it is your choice to believe in God, my advice to you its good to believe in God. We call God because everything we see could not come from nothing, even if you say we were just created by mixture of atom cells, then how about universe? If god did not created us he still exist to have universe , and we are part of it. But I believe there is a god because when you cry , tears come down right can you explain how and why? There are many questions can not be answered thats why we call it God.

    Depends.

A personal god? Probably not. At least, not in my opinion.
Spinoza's impersonal "god" (if you can call his idea of substance, god)? Maybe, maybe not.

Generally speaking, first you have to establish your metaphysical beliefs and then define the word god within its context. God is not defined exactly the same way in different religions and philosophical views.

That's the issue. Everybody is using christianity to say God doesn't exist. I do not use religion to prove God exist. I use science which says the same thing as religion but in terms we can understand. But even metaphysical jargon is saying the same thing but with different words.

If we include even the probability of the existence of a God who isn't associated with any known religion, then there's even a chance that we will never know, think of it this way, this God can exist and be outside the universe, and never actually reveal Himself to us, not on this life, not on whatever happens next, if there's any next. He can exist without ever revealing Himself, perhaps He finds it amusing seeing us discussing whether He exists or not.

If there is a god then most likely a couple handful of people might make it out of billions, that is because we're all worshipping the wrong god or doing something bad that is angering that deity. Do I think there is a god? No there is no "god", that is not possible, but there can be a lesser god, a fake god or a demi-god.

There absolutely is a God. Even if we’re just evolved from space dust and ended up evolving into human beings, why are we the only creatures that question how we came into existence and even consider that it was part of some design. Why do we even value life itself if we are just some carbon particles that happened to form into existence?

Only if you want to believe man-made personifications of supernatural deities created so a few (AKA the clergy) can have absolute control over everyone else, then yes.

Now, if you haven't drank the Kool-Aid of religious dogma and have taken off the rose-colored glasses that dogma makes a follower wear, then one can discover that the actual supreme power in the universe is nature.

We don't know. I tend not assume as true that which has no verifiable evidence for it. So from that standard, I say god does not exist untill proven otherwise. That's what I do to everything in life. I don't care for imaginary possibilty. I care for what is factual and real.

If this about evil, and suffering going on in some other countries, and some other continents. You got Lilith, and the Devil to blame. Lilith is a monster which makes her the mother of monsters. The Devil is being evil towards foreigners to keep some of them away from God, and give them the idea that God isn’t real.

There is no god. There is no afterlife. No punishment or karma, divine justice, etc. Enjoy your life without fear.

    “Son of David” and “exalted”

Being a believer but with no biblical knowledge I had to literally look these terms up.

And no I didn’t hear voices lol, it was more of a subconscious visual image/ understanding without hearing an inner voice

Then how did we end up here? How was everything perfectly aligned in our universe to exist? If we were 100 feet closer to the sun the earth would have been burnt to a crisp a long time along where life would never survived, humans would never have lived and animals would die, even the oceans would probably be evaporated. People who life happened all by chance, well then I can say your parents didn’t have sex to create you, you happened by chance where they woke up one morning and said honey look we have a child! A stork brought him to us.

@raw_is_war99 You're misinformed. We're here because this is a place we could evolve; to think otherwise is like asking why fish live in water.

The Earth's orbit around the Sun is not a perfect circle, the distance to the Sun varies by over 3 million miles every year (and that doesn't even affect the seasons noticably).

Finally, that's not how evolution works. There are minor differences from generation to generation which build up to major differences over time.

I look a lot like my parents, siblings and near cousins. Go back 40 generations, to Biblical times, and my ancestors probably lived somewhere in Northern Europe. Back 400 generations, and they'd look quite different from me (but still look a lot like their parents, siblings and near cousins), 4,000 generations, 40,000 generations, they're probably a lot hairier and living in trees. 40 million generations ago, our ancestors were small furry creatures avoiding being eaten by dinosaurs.

You speak of cousins or ancestors how did they get hear, how do I know they existed? I can say they didn't exist. You could say it goes back 4,000 years, I could say prove it, show me every grave stone, every photo or whatever. That's what people want who don't believe in God right? Evidence, right? Look at the mountains, the animals, how come women weren't born with a pair of testicles? If you think everything happened by chance, because I don't know the same way you don't know God, then I have a valid reason that you say "God didn't create anything" so my rebuttal could be the same that your parents didn't create you either, what's the proof? If your proof is my mother was pregnant, here's the medical documentation, here's the doctor's proof of signature... Ok there was a beginning point... So how come you don't apply that to this universe. The reason why you don't believe in God is because God in your mind has a time and a limit, Thats why many religions of God state God is timeless and limitless. If this entire universe was created by chance our world would not cease to exist.

That's why major religions talks about the day of judgement because life is a test until we die and meet our creator like an individual in front of judge for a court case. Like I said if the earth was 100 ft closer to the sun we would have been burnt to a crisp a long time ago but see life still moves, vegetables and fruits to grow, water still flows, thats God's mercy. When people die who didn't believe in God, God will state, did I not show you the signs? I've seen the fear in a man's eyes with cops around, i've seen the fear in a man's eyes in front of a judge... That's just a human being. If you don't believe in the concept of God, there's two sides to the coin where if something changes and you are wrong (because not everyone in this world, including myself is right) then you can't tell God "I was misinformed" and start blaming others. That's what people do when they speed on the road, they will say "oh officer I didn't know I thought the speed limit was x-limit".

Actually all it takes is a few hundred feet, space and experts have admitted this to severely alter our temperature on earth. If climate was fine on earth and then the Arctic sea up North wouldn’t be melting at higher rates, so not sure why you’re mentioning 3 million miles. Place your hand over a gas stove, doesn’t it get hotter the closer your hand or do you have to place your hand right on it to feel it? You can disbelieve God all you want but it will be clear and evident one day. All I’m saying is, you can’t be the person taking the test and the test is over and you want more time.

Their brain isn't the issue. Awareness and understanding is. Or better said ignorance is the problem.

If you go to the theologians ask them... Define God
They will tell you: God just is. He is the cause and effect of himself. He is omnipresent. Spirit/God can not be create nor destroyed.

      @ChrisMaster69

Then if you say the hell with the theologians those guys are nuts! So you walk on over to a few scientist and ask them what is the power that animates the cosmos. And this is what they will tell you. There is a power that animates the cosmos and they will give you the name energy and if you ask them what is energy... They will say, energy just is. It is not created nor destroyed. It is omnipresent and it is the cause and effect of itself.

Now I know I'm not crazy but I swear I just heard the same thing 5 mins ago...

Energy is God. God is spirit. Spirit is energy. Call it what you want. Do not let religion fool you. Do not let religion limit God. You cannot limit it.

There I have just proven to you God exist but if you are asking me if the christian God exist I will tell you yes and no. They have limited God but their God is god because there is only one god. There is no hell and all that bs. The only thing god cares about is expansion and fuller expansion, you might say evolution. Spirit operates by its law aka the whole universe. So why is there all the evil things.. That is why. Plus we have free will. But I can easily reverse your question and ask you why do so many evil people win. Surely there is a god if anyone can win in life. But I'm not trying to answer your question because you asking that question with the assumption I am religious or Christian or something and I am not nor do I limit god they way religion does. I will not sit here and tell you stealing is bad. Lol god does not operate that way. Humans operate under the notions of good and bad. God operates under God's laws. And Im not talking about the commandments.

@PoliteSpeaker yeah lot of typing there.

Why if there is a god, has he let for at least a 1000’s years let children under say 16, be abused, tortured and murdered without a single intervention?

Can you explain that in a 4 line paragraph?

Then you have people saying, oh he stopped my ingrowing toe nail or similar - Google it.

Either these devout religious people are telling this truth or they are liars,

What is it, they tell the truth or they lie?

So when you hear someone say we are made in Gods image you will know what that actually means. You now know everything in this world is a different representation of the same thing. And because of that God is omnipresent. Not to mention the intangible.

Now I'm going to tell you one more thing because you need to stop and think and check yourself. Belief works the same way habits work. The deeper the habit the harder it is to break it or change it etc etc or the longer it takes. So if you have the belief god exist or god doesn't exist when you get hit by information that doesn't align with that belief you will cast it aside and you now can understand why so many people are religious despite so much of it not making any sense. Because faith and belief is not based on logic. Logic is of the conscious mind. Belief is of the subjective mind, the subconsious mind, the emotional mind. So when you read what I have wrote to you ask yourself am I rejecting this because I have the belief god doesn't exist or it is that the information makes no sense. And I remind you I used science and religion together to prove god exist. The only way to change a belief is the reevaluation opposing information. I was once religious. I was once a non-believer. It takes time to change but if you ask yourself does this make sense you will be using your conscious mind and you will find the right answer.

      @PoliteSpeaker so basically

You just repeated a load of words.

      Simple question

Those that say faith healed them, are they telling the truth or lying?

It’s a really easy answer, you can have both, so it’s one or the other.

      Just say

      Truth or lie

@PoliteSpeaker Why should anyone accept the premise that we were made in God's image? Why do you assert this?

@PoliteSpeaker "Energy is God. God is spirit. Spirit is energy. Call it what you want. Do not let religion fool you. Do not let religion limit God. You cannot limit it."
Let me tell you what energy actually is: it is the capacity of a system to accomplish a useful task, to do work. It comes in various forms, including kinetic, potential (especially gravitational potential), chemical, internal, electrical and nuclear, to list a few. All of these are potentially interchangeable, and it's true that it can be neither created nor destroyed, however your assertion here that "God is energy" is as silly as the assertion that "Energy is pink". It makes ZERO sense.

@ChrisMaster69 "Why if there is a god, has he let for at least a 1000’s years let children under say 16, be abused, tortured and murdered without a single intervention?"
Actually, I can answer that question. People in the West automatically make the assumption that God, if such existed, would necessarily be omnibenevolent, but that's not an assumption that is reasonable to make.
Think of a biologist peering through a microscope at a bacterial colony. Does he actually CARE about the microbes being examined, or does he just see them as being a useful means to an end?
God, if such exists, is indifferent to our individual fates, because this is all just one huge experiment.

They're telling the truth, because their faith acts as a placebo.
