Why do Christians think Allah means God?

Allah does not mean God. Allah is the name of Islamic God.

Just like the God of Israelites is Yahweh. Non-Arab muslims don't call their God God but Allah.

God in Arabic does not mean Allah but Ilah.

God means Ilah in Arabic.

Actually Allah, if you look in the original language translate into Moon god from the pantheon of hod at Mecca. Moon god was boss. Hence the crescent moon.. and Ramadan etc starting at first crescent. Islam worship the created or creaturely rather than Creator, God.
