Pride and Fear.
Satan's greatest trick was making man believe he didn't exist. Man is an arrogant creature till until we're in distress. That is the only time generally we're willing to listen to God.
This took me 20 years. To learn because I didn't want to accept I wasn't in control. The joke is I am. God doesn't want to control us. If that were true he wouldn't have given us free will. He's like any parent, in the sense he just wants wants what's best for you.
But as the apex lifeforms on this planet we like to believe there is NOTHING above us and we FEAR and respond with hostility to anything that suggests it is higher than we. I've often said if we ever discover aliens it'll unite humanity. Because we'll have found something new to fear. God says in the Bible 310 times that he loves us. I have to believe if he said it 310 times he was trying to make that pretty clear.

I think “God” was created as a way to co tell most of the population in the belief you’d go to heaven if you’re a good person, if you accept him I to your life. Imagine how many people would commit more crimes if religion didn’t exist. You’re telling me that someone dude who breaks into a house, kills a family can get I to heaven if he ask for forgiveness. Tell that to the damn little kid who was murdered, maybe he lives but lost his parents. Yes that makes complete sense lol
