I don’t really think I believe in it because I identify with traits that apparently belong to other signs. But I was reading through cafe astrology and so much of it was scarily accurate about me and the people I know…but also could just be general things that most people can relate to

Religious people have been persecuting people for millennia, and continue to do so today. I find that offensive, and I find institutions promoting learned ignorance and dismissal of reality in favor of make-believe to be dangerous and terrifying. If a person's religion means a lot to them, I actively question their judgment and suggest they seek professional psychiatric help.

I said you sound close minded, because it sounds like you see everything in black and white. There is so much gray in this world.
There so many things that sciences has yet to discover or find an explanation for.
I think there is a little truth to everything.

Not all religious people have persecuted others. Many religious people do a lot for others and the environment.
Also there are thousands of religions in this world. A lot of them are very accepting of others and are more about being in tune with nature, the universe, or yourself.
I would also like to say, as sad as it is, people have been persecuting people for millennia. Not only religious people.
Also, not every “religious” person is really religious. Some “religious” people just want power or praise.

You claim that religious beliefs are make believe, but you have no proof. Religious people also have no strong proof that there beliefs are real. So why can’t we just be respectful of one another and let people believe what they want.
Obviously, don’t let those who use their beliefs to hurt others just go on doing what they are doing.
Religions are continuously evolving their beliefs. A lot of them are much more progressive now. Many are slowly getting more accepting.

A person’s religion can mean a lot to them, because it helped them when they were going through a hard time. Their religion gave them hope to keep fighting.
I don’t see how this can make someone need psychiatric help.

The burden of proof is on the one claiming something exists. I can't prove there is no god just like I can't prove there isn't a magical invisible walrus plotting my demise. I'd need to provide some sort of evidence before people take the idea seriously.

Just because we don't understand something doesn't make it any more likely astrology or religion has answers. The best way forth, if we actually want to understand, is to think about it, make a hypothesis, and then try to figure out how to test that hypothesis. Verify it or refute it.

I'm not claiming there aren't well-intentioned religious people, or that they're some sort of monolithic group. But looking through history, the track record of religion is an extremely bloody one, and on the whole, violence and persecution is the norm, not the opposite. The whole concept of belief without evidence closes people off to education and invites power-hungry people to take advantage of others.

Live and let live sounds nice in theory, but the reality is that religious people almost never leave others alone to live their lives. They seek power and control, and use their holy books as justification to commit atrocities, time and time again.

I agree that the best way to figure something out is by thinking logically and testing hypothesis. I was trying to say that there have been many discoveries of creatures that people claimed were just myths, so who knows what they will discover next.

Looking through the track record of history, regardless of religion, it was filled with blood and violence. Power hungry people will use anything to gain control and feel important. Sadly, many power hungry people choose to use people’s religious beliefs to gain control.
I wouldn’t say that it closes people off to education, but it can make them more susceptible to manipulation.

Like One of my best friends is an Atheist and another is Agnostic. My other best friends are Christian. I have really good friends who are Hindu, Diest, Muslim, Buddhist, Shintoists, Jewish, and taoist. We all get along and respect one another’s beliefs.

I sincerely hope more people can learn to respect each other and not try to impose their religion on others. I grew up being forced to go to church and being mistreated by religious people, so it left a really bad taste in my mouth. Trauma never really goes away.
