You don’t need a sign from God. You have instruction on how to live and what is right and wrong. It a man is compatible with you in terms of beliefs and if there is mutual attraction, then watch carefully to see if he is a good, genuine person. Look at what he does more than what he says. I believe God sends you what you are in harmony with. I believe that is the true nature of prayer. To pray is the get in harmony with what you want.
I believe Gods language is solely through the Law. That's what the bird thing is about. Nothing happens outside the Law. If a bird falls it is by Law.

The Bible says when you pray believe that you have received what you ask for.
That is what it means to be in harmony. This is also why creation is finished.
"and has no doubt in his heart but believes that it will happen, it will be done for him."

We refer to the subconscious mind as the emotional mind; meaning that to condition any belief/state in it must be done through emotion.

The Bible also says, faith without works is dead.
Meaning that your physical affairs have to be in harmony too.
Day by day you get your physical affairs in harmony as much as you can for that day.

I believe you are a co-creator with God. Given such power you can understand why so much goes wrong.

Not trying to push my beliefs onto you, just trying to answer the question the only way I know how. Even though you have been creating what you don't want, God will just as willingly grant you what you want if and when you get in harmony with it and stay in harmony with it.

I know a lady who asked God for a man who was like this and like that; she got in harmony with it and God sent the man straight to her.
She never had to go looking for him. And this wasn't a young woman.
The man was exactly how she wanted him to be. Exactly.
Because that is what she asked for and go in harmony with.

As someone once told me: whatever is meant for you, will be for you. Everything will fall into place and you won't have any misgivings about the person, guessing, feeling strange about them, etc. You will know inside that this is what's right.

What's more important is working on yourself and worrying less about getting someone. When you keep trying, you push it further away. When you focus on being the best person you can be, you attract the right person.
