I’m exploring it.

I was once heavily involved in Christianity for over a decade, I led bible studies for the university students of my church, led the congregation in prayer on stage, and almost became a pastor. I was like my pastor’s right hand man at one point.

But, I eventually left the Christianity (at least as an organized religion) due to dogmatic beliefs that were promoted within conservative Christian CULTURE that wasn’t sufficiently backed by scripture.

In other words, I saw too many teachings and doctrines of men being promoted as if they were the teaching and doctrines of God. (Surah Al-Imran Ayat 7)

I left Christianity and went to something more abstract: believing in the existence of a higher power whose message and motive was to heal the world with love.

Because the overarching message that all believers should live by is to love God and to love others. (Mark 12:30-31)

From my experience, not every religion gets everything right. There can be helpful things to learn and understand from different religions.

I believe it’s important to transcend organized religion, so that one can see the truths that overlap and intertwine.

The People of The Book (what the Qur’an calls Christians) who are genuine believers and the genuine followers of Islam actually have much more in common, the closer they are to Allah (Allah, the Arabic term for God that Arab Christians also use to address God).

It’s the conservative Christians and conservative Muslims that clash the most because of their opposing culture and propagated beliefs and practices that aren’t backed by the Qur’an or the Bible.

It’s those who don’t truly pray or read scripture that are the most hostile towards each other.

And if they read, they read with confirmation-bias, rather than trying to uncover and understand the truth from a humble place.

I suppose I may possibly become a Muslim, as I’m exploring Islam.

But, if I do become a Muslim, it will be in a way where I transcend the culture and am aligned with the essence and message of the Qur’an, rather than being immersed in conservative Muslim beliefs that may pollute the purity of what the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) intended to teach those who are seeking the truth of Allah.
