I’m pretty sure it’s religion but I don’t know much about Hinduism doesn’t it have something to do with the 3rd eye
I can actually answer this question as a biracial Indian 🤣
It's a tradition that dates back ages. It's more so a hindu thing than anything else. It's called a "bindi". It's considered a "third eye". Basically you wear it and you have an extra eye to see things and gain wisdom.
Now as a CHRISTIAN Indian... the thought of putting that on my head is thoroughly ridiculous so I don't wear it. But I take humor when I get asked the age old question when I say I'm "Indian". And that is: "what kind of Indian? Dot or feathers?" 🤣

They don't they all have a hidden sniper aimed at their head just in case
Across the country, it's not uncommon to see women sporting a small dot on their foreheads between their eyebrows. The mark is known as a bindi. And it's a Hindu tradition that dates to the third and fourth centuries. The bindi is traditionally worn by women for religious purposes or to indicate that they're married
