yes he is. in the sense that the roman occupants would call anyone who would try to re-establish davids kingdom (aka the rulership of the 12 jewish tribe leaders of which one was alledgedly jesus's grandpa) a messiah and nail them to the cross.

remember when the bible says that jesus was nailed to the cross with common theives? that's actually a translation error. romans were very stricktly organised. they wouldn't hang a thieve in the same group as a murderer or a traitor. he was hanged to the cross with other "criminals" (which it says in the original) and most likely that refers to others who like him commited treason in the eyes of the roman occupants. that's just how the romans did it back then. and the bible never talks about the fact that there were a "lot" of people like jesus. maybe jesus is just supposed to be the archetype. not an "actual" person.
