I'm a Christian, but sometimes feel like most Christians miss the point. Many Christians think that being able to quote the Bible books, chapters and verse makes them a good Christian, despite the fact that Jesus Christ didn't write one scripture.
Christianity is about what you do, not what you say, your actions.
Follow the 10 commandments, focus on putting emphasis on compassion and forgiveness and people won't go far wrong.
wow, which church teaches that foreign religion? i think you are pretending to be Christian here.
1, "Christianity is about what you do, not what you say, your actions." the opposite! paul apostle of jesus learnt from jesus and led by holy spirit, taught NOT EARNED, "grace, which he has freely given us". in "your mouth and heart to accomplish, if you say etc."
it IS about what you SAY that is the foundation.
b, did jesus ever say "Follow the 10 commandments"?
what about plowing your field on Sunday or sabbath? ten commands were to israelites.
c, "focus on putting emphasis on compassion" our good deeds are filthy rags. we can't earn, only by grace given freely, not earned.
after the main part, also try to stop sinning.
what you call "the point" is wrong. Christians don't miss the real point, they miss your point because it is foreign.
It is barely a religion, more a cult given religion status and caused problems ever since.
It's central character (Jesus) was not a Christain, not were his parents, or siblings! In fact there was no such thing as a Christian until around 50 years after Jesus!
actually a cult is characterized by "psychological control" christian differs so not a "cult." cult is more like the situation "muslims followed sharia because scared of angry neighbors", that is a real cult.
b, jesus was a christian because he believed the prophecy about "christ" spelled "msih" in quran and hebrew.
c, his parents were jews but believed that is why they stayed together when mary was pregnant, because they believed the ideas in Christianity.
the term christian is in book acts, maybe 50 years later, but before the name, still the faith about msih=christ existed and was believed.

from available religion, i think about Christian is best by far, and most popular, even in west where we can choose atheism people prefer christian. other ism or faith not even close.
There are two and a half BILLION of us; about a third of humanity. I don't think it's unreasonable to say you need to be more specific.
just another delusion as many others.
a delusion is when something is impossible. considering even the author of "god delusion" wrote "god is possible" in same book, then it can't be considered delusion. and certainly religious believe possible therefore not delusion. and Einstein not delusional , also believed in god.
@strateguy632 no a delsion is not when something that is impossible. if you just use words to mean whatever, then talking is pointless.
sure it is , i studied psychology for example "Delusions are a type of abnormal thought content that involve false beliefs that are firmly held despite evidence to the contrary. They are idiosyncratic and can’t be accounted for by a person’s culture, religion, or level of education." we identify delusion if they believe something impossible.
and do you think HAWKINS was delusional? he talked about "how god made the big bang" in chapter 8 of brief histroy of time.
@strateguy632 now you looked up the correct definition of delusion. don't tell me you studied psychology, when you defined it completely wrong at first and had to look it up online to define it correctly. and then after you spelled out the definition, you still used wrong words to abreviate it. delusions and things that are impossble are completely separate concepts.
i am not calling you stupid or looking down on you for being wrong but i have to correct you. i'll show you my critique in one simple example: if i think someone is stalking me, but nobody is actually stalking me, i am delusional. me being stalked is not impossible tho is it? it is very possible that someone may be stalking me. so delusion and impossible are not the same. please accept my critique and correct yourself.
please give me the exact quote with the page number from Hawkings work "Brief history of time" where Hawking states that god created the universe. I just read the chapter and hawkings there is a few times where he guesses that "one possible explanation" may be god, which we will never understand", which he never elaborates on or explains. as far as i see in that chapter, it is never a positively articulated statement of fact but quite explicitly a conjecture. the only point where he makes a positive statement, he's directly quoting the pope, so that's obviously not a fact but merely the popes opinion, which considering the popes role is CLEARLY biased.
please correct me if i'm wrong but i'm quite sure you're wrong here.
Je suis Chretien
