Hypothetically, if your religion said doing good deeds would cause you to go to Hell in the afterlife, would you still do good deeds?

If you are having moral dilemmas with your religion, then you are most likely following the wrong religion, possibly understand your religion from a misinterpretation of it's meaning, or are some sort of psychopath that has a twisted since of morality. If you actually can differentiated good from evil, and read your religion in context and you still run into situations where you are called to do evil in order to be rewarded, then obviously you are following a religion that doesn't align with your conscience.

That's retarded logic as then it wouldn't be "good deeds". Part of the reason for "good" is to reduce the likelihood of having to expiate for wrongs in hell.

It's like saying "working to pay your boss". Which would be classed as "slavery" and not "work" at all.
