Can someone explain to me the bizarre alliance between LGBT and western Islam?

I’ve heard news of “gays for Palestine” and I assumed it was a fly by night bizarre connection of fringe radical groups who so happened to find common ground over hating traditional western values.

But a few nights ago I attended a therapy group for addiction recovery and I heard young woman (who was openly lesbian) say something that threw me for a loop. She said she had a lot of Muslim friends and was trying to sacrifice something (in her case masturbation) for Ramadan to “support” her friends.

On a interpersonal level I have nothing against this young woman at all. She was friendly and approachable. We chatted for a long while after the meeting. She’s new to recovery and I hope she keeps coming.

But still I just don’t get it. It’s no secret that Islam is far more brutally oppressive of gay people compared to Christianity in the modern world. Especially in the Middle East. So why are some gay people trying to make an alliance with an ideology that would prosecute and likely execute them in other parts of the world?

And even in first world countries most openly gay people wouldn’t be too welcome in Muslim communities if they fully converted to Islam and yet continued on with their lifestyles.

Anyway is this really just because radical Islam and modern day LGBT communities so happen to both hate traditional western values?

Muslims and LGBT coexist to defend against white supremacist types. It's a temporary arrangement, against the various death cults of the White Christians.

There is no such thing as "Western values". In fact, these days there is no such thing as "The West" as you'd happily stab each other in the back for a few more bucks in your various economies.

Hence it's laughable you're trying virtue signal, when more women, gays and trans are murdered in the "The West" than anywhere else outside it.

Funny I never heard of modern day Christians throwing women in burqas, forcing them into marriage, not allowing them to attend school and also throwing gays off buildings.

But I guess there is some sort of “Christian Nationalism” movement which is doing this and the brutality of Sharia Law is all in my head given I am so “insular-minded” and all. I’m sure this not any delusional projection on your part. Nah. Never.

I believe this girl has been so brainwashed to hate traditional western values that she finds “kinship” with Islamists who feel the same way. Also it’s a feeling of being exotic and “rebellious” to be friends with them. She might even have a delusional “rape fantasy”.

Anyway I have nothing against her interpersonally. She seemed easy to get along with. We might even become friends down the road.

Also one thing about recovery is it starts clearing your mind up to make better decisions on other issues that (seemingly) lay outside of your problem.

But still actually meeting an open lesbian who is actively supportive of the most brutal anti woman, anti gay ideology in the entire world is just insane.

Do people think LGBTQ+ is an organization?

If you are gay or lesbian or intersex or straight or whatever, you have an opinion that can be outside things.

I know a few people who are LGBTQ+ who happen to support Israel and some that are more ‘conservative’ than their peers. Bottomline, your title doesn’t dictate your behavior and your individual self comes with individual perspective, opinion, merit, beliefs, morales, etc.

I’m not going to voice my opinion on this subject other than, attacking a whole group of people / placing a label makes it difficult to get ideas across and be open minded to what others have to say.

I’m a straight white guy by the way, you have your viewpoint and your opinions and you are entitled to them while being open minded to change.

Well from her perspective she love her friend and tries to support their needs. Instead of judging her beliefs she accepts them. I have catholic friends and I don't feed them meat on Fridays because I hate the whole pedophilia hiding Vatican thing.
