What do you think about panteism?

The belief that God is the universe itself — that there is nothing other than God. The water you drink is God, the person you talk to is God, your emotions are God. Everything that exists is God, and you are God. What do you think?

Does it posit that this God is causally inert, non-physical and non-spatiotemporal? Or is this God material or can at the very least be perceived? If the former is true then how did it create the universe?

If the latter is true then we have to ask- what of its epistemological existence? If the God exists within creation then how did it exist prior to the creation of the universe? If it did not exist prior to creation then is it still considered a God? Who then created the universe? Since this God encompasses all of creation and is creation, how then can creation create itself since it would not have existed ontologically.

I don't believe in it. An effect requires a cause, a cause that is independent from ans superior to the effect. Pantheism is essentially saying that the universe created itself, that it ordered itself and sustains itself in existence. That's not how things work. A house doesn't build itself, a child does not conceive his or her self, a car does not start itself, and so on. They each need someone to intervene to make those things happen. So does the universe.

I just can't believe in any holy book. They all seem to me like old story books. The idea of God is everything seems more logical and emotionally fulfilling to me
