Have you ever asked yourself why there are so many languages spoken in this world and not just one?

Sort of but a better question might be: who made up the borders on where certain languages can be spoken?
Here in America, we have 50 states and, except for Hawaii and probably Alaska, where they each have their own languages, so to speak but, those two are NOT physically a part of the continent, ALL of us (barring some native Indians that refuse to speak it) speak English!
Europe is made of quite a few small countries, most of which aren't much bigger than an American state and they are mostly all part of the same land mass yet each little country speaks its own language, even though some countries are on the borders of at least one other country. In such cases where several countries are in the same land mass, who decided that a certain language use would come to a dead stop on THIS imaginary line (the border of said country)?
Bulgaria isn't even as big as Pennsylvania and they speak one language but China is HUGE and they speak a completely different language! Who decided that this tiny area called, Bulgaria would ONLY speak one language and it wouldn't spread out to any other countries (before we even had countries!) but that Chinese would be spoken over a MUCH LARGER mass of land? What stopped one language from being spread and spoken all over the planet? Why doesn't everyone speak Swahili or Hawaiian?
India, basically, all speaks Hindi but, they actually have a few different variations of it that are, basically, different languages. Why doesn't everyone in India, like everyone (per se) in America, speak the same language?

When you posted something like " I know the answer, I want to know if you do", I knew immediately where you were going; to a Biblical explanation. It's where believers always go, confident that it offers valid reasons for every historical event that ever took place. Why - because, you're a believer.

I'm not here to debate anything about your statement because even if I were the world's most renowned and accredited expert in historical linguistic development, there's no intelligent discussion to be had when your entire case is " because the Bible says so". It's the end-all, full stop answer from any believer on any subject.

But I'm not saying anything other than that either. Anyone can choose to believe anything they want, as you do, as I do. I am familiar with the chapter and verse, and the explanations of it, and the comments of a few scholars offering further explanations.

All I can say is something I've said before about many Biblical stories; the writers ascribe base human characteristics to a Creator responsible for all that exists in the Cosmos, and expect it be believed at face value for to declare oneself a "Christian", that's what you must do. You must believe everything in the book is perfectly accurate and divinely inspired. I surely do not believe that.

So with that, I believe that you believe you know the answer to your question. But that also means you believe that anyone else who disagrees with you, is just wrong. That right there, is and always will be, the problem with religion of any kind... the belief of dogma over data.

The answer is pretty obvious. There's not much point in constantly pondering the obvious. So no, I never spent a lot of time wondering why more or less isolated populations of humans developed a smorgasbord of different languages thousands of years ago and then sometimes blended those languages when they bumped into each other. And by bumped into each other, I mean conquered and dominated the poor bastards living next door.
