I believe this idea is an important discussion to be had regardless of whether or not you support Kaepernick's kneeling or #BLM or #BlueLivesMatter, etc.
Ignoring the context of the time, MLK's words are quite, in a word, haunting. I think he was definitely onto something because he's vague enough to not need to be nitpicked but clear enough to not be overtly vague to the point people can say "That applies to everyone".
I think he was speaking about the nature of a lot of white families, in the sense that they mean well but either don't have the drive or fear the cost of change.

This question came to mind after enjoying and respecting a comment from a certain user on a certain post of mine, I found that their explanation was very thorough and wanted to see how many people agreed with such a statement.

Of course I wouldn't throw in the users name because I don't want them to get nuked by hate by the ones who disagree.

I myself feel it is statistically rational to believe the statement, based on how many guys confess and how many girls confess, it seems perfectly fair to come to this conclusion that they wouldn't approach and confess to a guy out of fear of rejection and rather prefer to wait for the guy to approach them.

I want to make it VERY CLEAR, I DON'T BELIEVE THIS IS THE BEHAVIOUR OF ALL FEMALES, BUT A MAJORITY OF FEMALES.

Oh I freely admit it. The trick is not to allow one's self to be ruled by this.

The answer you give is not what many women I know in real life give. They admit to being equally intimidated by the prospect of rejection. And being passed over is *not* the same as being explicitly rejected. Society has it that women don't have to approach... and so they don't. Not out of a desire to challenge men, but out of a desire to avoid rejection. I've no reason to believe you or they are being dishonest.

For my 21st birthday I want to get an additional tattoo. It will be my first quote so I've chosen a quote from Edward "Whitebeard" Newgate aka Pops aka what I want to represent as a father:

"If you still have it in your heart to fight, take my name upon your back and rage across the seas to your heart's content. Become a son of mine!"

In addition to the quote I also want Japanese characters down my spine, under it to pull it all together. I chose this particular quote because it's what Whitebeard says to his adoptive son Ace after beating him in a fight, and it's an open invitation to his crew. Even after joining the crew Ace tries to kill Whitebeard multiple times, with no success, and Whitebeard treats it as nothing because, as he put it, he became his son.
I really want the characters to show my goal, which is to create a family that chooses to stand beside me not out of fear but out of respect and love. One thing I always hated about my family was/is I feel bound to them just because we're related. I hate the fact that despite the fact they all feel worthless, abusive, and destructive at times that I feel indoctrinated into being loyal.
So which characters would fit best with my quote?
