I have had to take human life on four occasions in my career life.
One particularly hand-to-hand wrestling 'up close and personal' for 'keep-sies'... over a tire iron. May you NEVER have to look in someone's eyes as they literally die and the 'light' of consciousness leaves and you are intimately aware YOU caused it with that tire iron driven through his chest.
"Was I frightened? HELL yes..." But, unless you can move through and PAST that psychological paralysis... if only ONE of us is going home from this interaction, I'm voting FOR ME!!! And the adrenaline kicks in. Mothers literally lift multi-ton cars off children. (and their bodies 'pay' for it later) I've ALWAYS had the good fortune to survive an Aggressor's 'choice' to INITIATE physical hostilities... THEY were always given the CHOICE to rethink and dis-engage. "I don't START fights, but I WILL if necessary and unavoidable, FINISH them" (or die in the attempt)
Its an old Viking adage: "Your rank in 'Hel' is determined by the number of those fallen whose Souls precede you" ~ ;)

No of course not. It's just something to sound cool. Of course realistically, Fear is very useful like as into act as a signal of danger, threat, or motivational conflict, and to trigger appropriate adaptive responses.
Then fear also adrenaline releases and other chemicals as well, such as dopamine, endorphins, oxytocin and serotonin. There's a good reason for that: serotonin, in particular, helps your brain to work more efficiently.
It basically protects us and makes us think better. So if this guy don't want to think better or protect himself then go for it lol
I depends. If you're in a situation that puts your life or other people's lives at stake then fear can be a mind killer because it makes it harder for you to take action. But sometimes fear can be a good thing and can even be a motivator. For example if you fear taking a certain quiz or exam then your fear can motivate you to study so that you do well

I agree. In some situations people let their fear block them and they lose good opportunities or they don't do what they want to.
But sometimes it's good to be afraid of something or someone. It prevents you from dangerous circumstances.

not quite... it's more about how you handle yourself through the fears
Agree with the quote, this is the basis of military/police/para medic training where you are faced with a stressful situation by dampening the fear and allowing you to deal with the situation.
No, panic is. Fear on the other hand is a great motivator for thought when it comes to avoiding danger or negative developments.
