(Previously posted it, but I am still confused. Many people that had valid points then went on to contradict themselves etc).

So me and this girl, we're currently amazing friends and she likes me a lot. Although her age is 14, the real reason why I started speaking to her was because I believed she was at least 16 and so my friend told me as well. I was a bit shocked when I found out from herself how old she was... At that point it was too late to just ignore her, because I started to like her and she started to like me even more. Even though my age might be 17, I've never dated anyone, neither have I had strong feelings for anyone.

I am 17, I am somewhat mature. She's 14 and is also quite mature. We're open to each other about most things. I am quite defensive when it comes to her and I don't let anyone mess around with her.

I tried getting some distance from her, but somehow things keep on bringing us together more and more. Literally the most random things and it's actually incredible. We have a lot of common interests. She can read me like a book, by just looking at my face. She knows when I am not comfortable and tries to help me out in those cases.

In the case of this thing working out, I'd still like to talk to her parents and let them approve of our relationship if it ever becomes a thing. At this point I am trying to delay the whole thing to gain some time. I don't want to ghost her or anything, especially because she's a great person. No one, not even my mom understands me this much.
