Search Results: discussing other women while with me

My best friend knows my first ex was my first true love. He also knows I do not like even discussing her, even though it has been 10 years since we broke up. Anyways, my best friend tells me he is in my town and wants me to meet him at a bar and go out for drinks. He tells me there will be one other person joining us and it is someone I know pretty well. I did not question him. We meet up and he tells me she will join us soon. I asked him if I was meeting a new girlfriend of his. He told me he is still single and this meeting is about me meeting her. When the woman approaches, I do not recognize her as my ex because she changed a lot. However, as soon as she started speaking I knew right away. I asked them why they were here. My ex told me she got in contact with my friend in an effort to get back in touch with me. I was pissed. I told them both to fuck off and stormed out. They tried to follow me so I dumped my drink on my best friend and told my ex to go to hell. I refused to talk to him for a while. Did I overreact.

This question is inspired by a conversation I had today with another G@G user on the topic of sharing and not sharing things with one's friends and partners.

In the process, I realized I tend to not share much with my friends, in general.
There certainly are things and topics I'm more open to discussing with someone I'm not romantically invested in (particularly the unflattering and compromising ones) but, ultimately, I'm not a great sharer overall.
Indeed this has even proven to be a crux of many of my interpersonal connections.

But at the same time, I'm much more motivated to share information with someone I may be romantically interested in, and this is true even if the motivation there is not to impress or deepen my connection with that person.
Which, upon realization, I now find odd, because I'm even less of a romantically inclined person than I'm an engaging friend.

I've noticed people's tendencies in this vary greatly, some seemingly thrive on the deep connections with their "besties" while others may sway the directly opposite way- preferring their partners being the ones who know them the most intimately.

I've dated a woman who claimed that she let me know more about herself than she did all her friends combined (in a fairly short period of time no less), admitting she wasn't a great sharer herself.
If I didn't know better from our interactions, I would have chalked this off as perhaps a little cheesy attempt at impressing me or making me feel special.

But how uncommon is this?
What is your MO when it comes to sharing things with your friends and significant others?
Does this vary from person to person and the established connection between you two?
By the nature of information, perhaps?
Do you ever make it a point to share/not share certain information with some but not the others?

So, I was texting a friend of mine (actually discussing a MyTake; How to become attractive to women. How to stop fearing women. A guide for dudes who are UTTERLY HOPELESS with women. ), and how I have my own issues with women; mainly being short, ugly, dark, fat/obese, etc. (things I'm all somewhat okay with, aside from the height, but they are not).

And my internal struggle is whether I should give up women altogether, since it seems to be an effort in futility and a massive waste of time and energy, or keep trying to find someone special while working on improving myself (like the author of that MyTake said). Most of my improvement needs to come from within and focusing on being stoic and more calm and accepting with myself, and the outside world, which I kinda hate.

Really, I can't/don't want to, do both. I can either focus on myself and my own happiness, or seek love, companionship, sex, intimacy, etc, from women. I know people always say "you need to be fine with yourself first," but... That's kinda bullsh*t. And it's coming from people who already have a ton of self-esteem and generally zero issues with dating. On some days, I feel like the MGTOW crowd has it right all along and I should just focus on self-growth and happiness. And on other days, I'm just ridiculously lonely, and see how other people, who put in less than a fraction of the work I do on self-improvement, still have these happy, amazing relationships.

So I was discussing all of this with my female friend. And while she didn't give me an answer to the problem, because she's a romantic and loves love (and also a woman, so can't relate to what it's like to be alone indefinitely and unable to meet someone), she did tell me that line.
"25 to 33% of all women are bitches." Implying I SHOULD stop focusing on them.

And I can't exactly disagree. I know; in Current Year; you're NEVER not supposed to kiss women's asses at all times, but like I said, their asses aren't worth kissing.
