I believe the pre-Obama era, up until around 2007 was a decent time. Some may say earlier times were even better, and I cannot say I disagree, but I believe these were the last times when people were more down to earth, less absorbed in the Politically Correct (PC) culture (which ran rampant during the Obama years), and were more motivated and optimistic for success.

It could have been because I was still wearing rose colored glasses and I was still rather naive and a kid, considering these years were my elementary school and preteen years. My adolescent years were rough and plagued with severe mental illness. My adulthood years introduced nightmarish situations of their own.

My favorite childhood year was 2004. My parents were more financially sound, I had my best friend at the time named Nick, and the cartoons were good. I could balance technology and playing outside. Kids still went trick or treating and played outside. I rode my bike around and played on my GameCube. I enjoyed my Crash Bandicoot Wrath of the Cortex and Zelda windwaker. My imagination ran wild and I could enjoy the simpler things, even just playing in the backyard and building "ponds" and trenches.

Today, everyone is buried in their phones. People are harsh, tempermental, greedy, tired, lonely, and antisocial. Everyone is beaten down with politics, inflation, and financial burden. People seem to lack empathy and compassion. Corporate greed is insane. People don't take pride in their work. It is sad what we have become.

I am a Trump supporter. I voted for him the last 3 elections.

I am thrilled he is tackling the illegal alien issue and the DEI/Woke social engineering policies head on. These issues were like a cancer to our society.

Although, I would say the most important issue I wish he would focus on more: that is the cost of living and inflation. I feel basic necessities like groceries and housing are crippling, especially to young Americans and the working and middle-class trying to just get by. It is becoming increasingly difficult for Gen Z and younger millennials (Zillenials) to become first-time homebuyers. I am 30 and homeownership is not even within reach for me. Facing job instability as it is, I am uncertain I will ever be a homeowner.

The auto & electric equipment sectors in Mexico are most exposed to disruption & mineral processing in Canada. The largest risks to USA would be to farming, fishing, metals and auto sectors.

Trump has stated the ability of tariffs to protect domestic manufacturers. But on balance, most economists expect fresh trade barriers to raise prices for US businesses and households, which will lead to a temporary burst of higher inflation. How temporary depends on Americans’ expectations about future increases in inflation

"We don’t need what they have,” Trump said. He added that "tariff rates could increase over time" and suggested that the "tariffs might not apply to oil imports", a decision that could avoid an all but certain spike in gas prices.

While the US is the world’s largest oil producer, Canada refines the lighter US crude with heavier oil from places like Canada to make fuels like gasoline & diesel which is then re-inported. Roughly 60% of the oil that the United States imports comes from Canada, & about 7% comes from Mexico. As such, that total is 35% of the US daily consumption.

If Canadian refineries respond to the tariffs by cutting production, gas prices in the Midwest could climb 15 to 20¢ a gallon & smaller increases outside the region.

At the northern border, the flow illegal migrants skyrocketed in 2024. During that time, more than 23,000 arrests were made of migrants crossing illegally — 2 years before it was around 2,000.
