And here's the thing, the big ugly girl knows she's well liked because of who she is. The hot girl "thinks" she's well liked because of her personality and who she is, even though its for her looks.

The hot girl can't cheat and marry a rich guy then divorce him for half the money, or be a successful model. No hollywood or fame comes her way. She has to live a normal life.

If you're the hot girl, you don't know your looks makes you, you just think everyone loves you.

For starters men basically only care about looks and personality for the most part and their standards for looks aren't even that high. A man is willing to commit get with an average girl who makes minimum wage and he finds attractive even if he makes like 5-6x her salary.

As long as she is a lovely person, and is attractive to him at least. In fact, men who are in better place in life consistently throughout history have dated down and loved a woman who had nothing to offer him but her looks and personality. We see this even with celebrities today like Henry Caville.

[Women often think men only care about looks but they fail to realize personality is also important. Hence, why less men are checking out in relationship these days and marriage. Being pretty shell, and giving out great sex is not enough to keep a man girls;we aren't that easy.]

Women who despite media and women claiming personality is most important often have other criteria that must be added with the personality for a man to be given a chance at dating them.

For a lot of women you either need meet all their physical criteria to be given a chance which often includes being tall, athletic body and good looking to be given a chance with them and have a good personality (this may not be needed for some girl) if you lack money and/or status.

However, women are willing to lower on looks if you bring money and/or social status.

In short a personality alone and being decent looking will never get you the girl as a man. However, being very good looking with a personality (optional) will get you the girl or if you aren't a girl physical ideal then a LOT of money and/or status.

So aren't women more shallow of the two genders since to them you either need to be insanely hot and/or bring materialistic things to the table to be given a chance with them?

Summarize:
In highschool/college the one her friends approved of and what was considered most important was looks and popularity for most girls. As a woman finds herself in the working world (parents are less likely to support her), money becomes more important and increases the longer she waits to settle down. what is considered a catch and approved by her friends is a male who is financially secure, has a well paying, high status job. Approval from her friends shift more from looks/popularity to wealth and job status and this is the men show now prefers.

People often say that people pair up with those that are like minded, and that the good girl pairs up with the good guy and party girl with party guy etc. However, this is an ideal concept and the world is anything but ideal. The reality is that people don't often pair up with those of like minded. And in the case of women being good or bad really doesn't hold much weight when it comes to their attraction towards men. What takes paramount is looks, money and status.

So your a good man. However, you are born average looks and you don't have high social status or wealth. Overall around your time in your early -mid 20's you won't get a good woman to look at you. The reason is because the good woman would be chased by and/or pursue after better looking men, rich men and/or more popular men than you for relationships and looks (hypergamy).
So as a good man your left out with a choice of continuing the course with a lack of love or switching from going after decent women for girlfriends and target lower quality women.

So should good men who are having a hard time getting the good, woman and switch to lower quality women for love?

Example:
Rather than going for a girl who is nice, decent, doesn't sleep around and come from a good family with morals and values maybe start being more open to date a girl who is a stripper and has loose morals and values on things. Tends to be very sexually open also.
