Here are ten reasons why ideologies are like religions:

1. Both have sacred beliefs, which believers mistake as facts. Equality or democracy are NOT facts. And neither is the existence of God, contrary to what the religious people think.

2. Both HATE and dehumanize. We see lot's of dehumanizing today in politics!

3. Both are Ignorant of different beliefs. Christians know little about Islam, liberals know little about conservatives and conservatives mostly watch right-wing sources of news.

4. Both try desperately to convert non-believers.

5. Both have Messiah/Satan complex. Some some people Trump as a Messiah, others has Satan. Both are demonstrably false. (Obama was considered a messianic figure by some too.)

6. Both lead to irrational thinking, like Trump can't do bad or Trump can't do go good. Obviously, Trump has done good AND bad, but for those who favors ideology, that is hard to grasp.

7. Good or bad person. Some people believe that if you prefer a certainly political ideology, you are a bad person. That is irrational! It's like saying if you don't support a religion, you are a bad person.

8. Indoctrination. Let's brainwash everyone to believe in democracy and equality!

9. Wars! Religion leads to wars. Political ideologies lead to wars. The Civil War, WWII, Vietnam, the Korean War were all wars fought due to different political beliefs!

10. Deception! This one is pretty obvious. Obviously, lots of deception on both sides of the political spectrum, just as priests used to deceive.

Keep in mind, you don't HAVE to follow any political ideology. It's a choice you make. Just as some people aren't religious, some people don't follow ideologies. I think historically, political ideologies emerged in the 1800s, right when religion began to decline. It has been a replacement.
