Heroes that were forgotten by time

We don't do it for the glory. We don't do it for the recognition... We do it because it needs to be done. Because if we don't, no one else will. And we do it even if no one knows what we've done. Even if no one knows we exist. Even if no one remembers we ever existed.-Supergirl"

I am writing this because some people aren't getting the recognition they deserve. There are people who saved lives and even died in huge events for what was right and because of the scale of the events they are forgotten.

Congressman Leo Ryan D-Calfornia

Heroes that were forgotten by time

Now chances are that most of you know about the Jones-town Massacre, about Jim Jones Cult committing suicide and killing those who refused. Now the only reason you know about this is because of the work of Congressman Leo Ryan who was killed when investigating the activities of the cult. He was shot to death hours before the massacre while on the runway. Leo Ryan was a very huge anti-cult activist and when he heard that people in his district were being mistreated down in South America he flew down to investigate and he paid the price. Leo Ryan is a hero, one forgotten by most specifically because the events he exposed were so bigger than him.

Frank J. Wilson and George E. Q. Johnson

Heroes that were forgotten by time

When you think about Al Capone going down you probably think of Eliot Ness and Tax Evasion, however Eliot Ness didn't do that. It was the Agent of the Treasury Frank J. Wilson and Judge George E.Q. Johnson who did that. But no one really remembers them, Eliot Ness while vital in other areas was not responsible for the take down on tax evasion charges.

Viktor Zhdanov & Donald Henderson

Heroes that were forgotten by time

These are the men who took down small pox, during the height of the cold war a russian and American medical scientists teamed up to eliminate it and now, now no one cares. Even though they eradicated a disease that killed millions of people every year.

Thomas Roussel Davids Byles

Heroes that were forgotten by time

A Catholic priest on the Titanic, Father Byles was offered a seat on a lifeboat not once BUT TWICE and refused both times. Father Byles stayed on to provide spiritual comfort to people who were going to die and gave his life for two separate people on the boat. He stayed back to give absolution to people who knew they were going to die. He died for the lives of others and gave comfort to the dying and what was his reward? To be portrayed as a crazy and evil fundamentalist by James Cameron.
