Our hero was born to a poor Shona family in Kutama, Southern Zimbabwe which the white man called Rhodesia. Educated Kutama College and the University of Fort Hare, he worked as a school teacher in Rhodesia and Ghana giving young Africans an education.
Rhodesia was a colony of the British Empire governed by its white minority, angered by the injustice and oppression of the white man the great Mugabe embraced African nationalism and socialism calling for a black led state and African Freedom. The White authorities convicted of sedition and imprisoned between 1964 and 1974. When released the white man exiled him Mozambique fearful of the love and respect his people had for him.
In Mozambique his people begged him to lead the ZANU a group of African freedom fighters. He commanded the ZANU in the Rebellion for Racial Equality in Zimbabwe or Rhodesian Bush War, fighting Ian Smith's Rhodesian white supremacist government and his storm troopers.
Eventually the Rhodesian government facing defeat was forced to negotiate Mugabe and free elections were held. Mugabe's ZANU-PF won and his people were freed from the shackles of the evil white man.
As Prime Minister of the newly renamed Zimbabwe, Mugabe's administration established healthcare and education for all Africans. He returned the land stolen by the white man to his people.
In 2017 he retired from politics with the gratitude of his people.
The great Robert Mugabe ably led Zimbabwe for nearly four decades. Zimbabweans praise as a revolutionary hero of the African liberation struggle who helped to free Zimbabwe from British colonialism, imperialism, and white supremacist rule as well as the great leader that worked to keep Zimbabwe free of the white man's greedy corporations that seeked to pillage Zimbabwe's resources and turned Zimbabwe into a strong African nation. He will always be the Hero of the people of Zimbabwe.
