Was Casanova actually a lover/seducer or just a rapist and an assaulter?

I was reading his memoirs where there have been some instances where he suggested "violating" a girl or he said "I resolved to have her by using a little violence". He was also tried for sexually assaulting some women, but it is not clear whether he actually assaluted them or they were just his bitter lovers, who wanted to make him suffer. Do you think he actually was the great seducer/lover he is portrayed to be?
