What does it mean if "she is a trophy" ?

A "trophy" is a prize or award, that's awarded to someone that's the best in something.

School, sports, etc.

A trophy is something you're proud of.

A trophy is something that's nice to look at (there wouldn't be much fun in holding the Stanley Cup or World Cup if they looked like rusted tin metal scraps)

But above all, a trophy is a mark of success.

As Pink Floyd says.. "Money.. it's a hit.. don't want none of that good good good bullsh*t"

Success is money. If you're not successful, then you don't have money. And if you don't have money, rather than accept you're not successful (or that what you've convinced yourself you're successful in, doesn't really matter to society or anyone else), you start to create pseudo-moral notions of goodness and other things that are more important.

And that's what Pink is basically saying; "cut the bullsh*t"

When I think of trophy wives, a joke comes to mind, about the Gypsy & the Doctor.

A gypsy moves next door to a doctor.

He sees the doctor has a ballin' @ss mansion, so the gypsy gets one just like it!

The doctor gets p*ssed, so he gets a Mercedez SLK600.

The next day, the gypsy gets one too!

The doctor builds a giant pool & private tennis court.

So does the gypsy.

So then the gypsy goes to the doctor and says, "I'm better than you".

The doctor looks at him confused. "What are you talking about? we have the same house, the same car, and the same size pool & tennis court!"

The gypsy turns around and says, "yeah, but I live next to a doctor.. you live next to a gypsy"

That's how I think of so-called "trophy wives" who feel they're "a prize"

What is the prize exactly? Temporary looks? What's going to happen after 10 years? I'll have an old gypsy wife, who will never accept that she's no longer beautiful, and start getting plastic surgery & spending money on dressing herself, because it's too hard to simply accept that she was, and still is, a female loser, never was much of a prize, and isn't really as much of a "trophy" as she thought she was.

A trophy wife doesn't have to be stunningly gorgeous or beautiful! That's not what's valuable to me as a man. It's really not! I'd much rather have a wife that's simply not ugly, average or cute, but is a doctor or executive, bringing in six figures, setting a great example as a mother & woman to our children, is sexually insatiable & wants it nearly all the time, is sweet, respects me, loves me, cares about me, we have a great connection & feel constantly close to each other, we never stop missing each other, we never stop loving each other, and we grow together as a couple, and can both help give our kids what they need to live as happily as we can provide for them to live..

To me, that's a trophy wife..

A beautiful woman submitted to her partner. She is like a compliment he got. She isn't there to talk, just to look pretty so all his friends would envy him.

She doesn't need to be smart or independent. She usually isn't and stays home spending money in order too keep herself looking pretty so her husband or boyfriend wouldn't lose interest.
