Is it true that little boys throw rocks at girls they like?

Do some guys tend to do stupid things to get a girls' attention? I've got a friend (25) who does this sometimes and the way he goes about it reminds me of the, "boys throw rocks at those they like," scenario. Sometimes the way he goes about it can be kinda rude/mean, which has me kinda baffled at times because I'm not sure why he behaves like this.

Ya I used to throw tons of sh*t at this girl I liked. Rocks, sticks, my snack pack at lunch (unless it was chocolate) and then we played show and tell with our bodies and I stopped throwing rocks at her.
