How come college guys like me, but not high school guys?

i am in high school, but some of my friends are in college, so I hang around the local college campus a lot. when I'm there guys like to chat with me and hit on me. I've been asked out lots of times but I always have to say no because my mom won't let me date college guys [best friend is 15 and pregnant by a 25 year old so she's worried]. I also don't think I'm ready to be in a relationship with a guy that much older.

but none of the guys at my high school notice me. they always go after the typical hot blond preppy girls. you think I could get guys at my school to notice me? I am friendly and talk to them but they always say they see me as a friend.

Your high school guys are more concerned with their popularity and image. High school is a pretty dumb place where people worry about a lot of stuff that won't matter once they get out.

I wouldn't automatically say all college guys are more mature, but they're in a different mindset. They know the world doesn't revolve around them or their circle of friends. And consequently, that discovery makes them feel more free, like they can do whatever they want without any social consequences. It's like nobody cares anyway.

But even in high school, there's always a few people who are more sane than the rest. You might have to look a little closer, but I bet there's some guy there that might make a decent boyfriend.

Remember, it's not a numbers game. In college, there's generally a lot more people, so that increases the chances that guys with hit on you. In high school, there are fewer guys for you to choose from, and there are also fewer girls for the guys to choose from. If you play the cards right, this can be worked in your favor though.

The other thing to remember is that high school guys are a lot more insecure. This insecurity either comes off as cockiness or shyness depending upon the guy. I'm biased, but I'm going to say that the cocky guys aren't really worth that much of your time. Try going for a shy guy, someone who is maybe a little more independent thinking than the other guys at your school, maybe even outside your social circle. There's gotta be someone like that. You might have to work a little harder on him than the college guys, but it could pay off.

As for your mom's fears, you might remind her that younger guys are just as much a danger of getting a teenage girl pregnant as older guys. Actually, it would be worse to get knocked up by a younger guy because he couldn't even support a child. Also, older guys should be smarter and try harder to avoid these situations because of the risks and legal consequences. Then again, a 25-year-old going for a 15-year-old is already showing impaired judgement. I'm sorry for your friend.

I agree most high school guys are idiots. I just graduated almost 3 months from now. I mean I'm not saying all high school guys are idiots (because I don't wanna include myself in that category) I mean I would surely like to be in a relationship with someone like you if I had that in my school (when I was in highschool) because I was a really nice guy and most girls at my school anyways didn't like that, I tried to be with someone(who I've known for about 4 years now) and she said she only see's me as a friend because I'm "too nice" and get stuck in the "friend zone" surely I know that's been awhile but yeah I would totally give you a chance if you gave me one back. Because I wouldn't judge you by how you look I'd judge you by how you treat / act around me.

Guys in college are typically smart, more mature and have a better sense of themselves than high-school guys. You're probably a smart, mature girl. Also, guys in high-school are ina different phase. They're more sexual and prone to outside influences.

Be wary though, some college guys may just be after you for sex.

To be completely honest, as my experience has shown, most relationships between a college male and a high school female is completely about sex, while a relationship between two high school kids is about this "I like you" feeling, and a relationship between two college kids is about the "I like you, I see you all the time and we have a good time together" feeling.

Of course this is just generalization, and there are a few kids I know that are in relationships because they really do like each other, or they want sex, or what have you.
