Why do girls roll their shorts/pj pants up at the waist?

I've noticed around school a lot and at sports practices that girls wear shorts but they roll the waists down, what is the purpose of it?

Somewhere, some popular girl did it for a non-fashion reason, maybe the top of her shorts were a little frayed and the elastic was uncomfortable on her skin. Anyway some other girls saw it and they started doing it, and before you knew it, it spread across the country. That is how things like that get started.

it would depend on the girl that you asked. for a lot of them, it's a comfort thing as in their elastic doesn't feel comfortable or the shorts are too long, they'll shorten them up that way. then there's always the girls who do it to show more leg and get guys' attention.

On a lot of athletic shorts the crotch is kinda low, and I don't like wearing them really high, so I roll them down so they'll look better and be more comfortable. It's so uncomfortable if I don't roll them. :/

It just looks better in my opinion.. and is more comfy.

I do it because our school's gym uniforms are made for guys, so the crotch is really low, they're super long and the elastic rides up if the shorts aren't rolled a little at the waist.

But some girls do it just to show more skin for guys.

I do it if the waist is too high or the pants are too long, but now it's a fashion thing, too I guess.

I do it because the short is a bit too big or the elastic is annoying... No other reason...
