Are teachers allowed to give students presents/gifts?

totally fine and appropriate assuming 1) might there be a family relation among the student and the teacher or

2) could there be special circumstances deserving it. e.g. maybe she went way above and beyond duty for some extra curricular activity and he wanted to thank her, or she is going through some tough personal times and confided in him about it

or

3) its for someone he knows in her family. A sibling who was a prior student or for her parents.

all those things are common and *totally* acceptable. Now if he's just buyign her gifts randomly, then no, nor does "birthday gifts" pass as acceptable unless it was a could candies off his desk or something similarly cheap and innocuous.

My friend got a gift from this female teacher apparently his aunt or something, so she's step-family now and just decided to bring him a gift.

If it was out of the blue happy birthday student lol then yeah.

Either way it's unacceptable when in a school.

When I was in first grade my teacher was pregnant and gave birth early so we had a sub for a while.Well I was a really good student then,and one day while we were walking in line to the library,he stopped me and gave me a ring(that he bought) and told me not to tell anyone.I lost the ring and told my mom but that was creepy

it really really depends. I volunteer in the inner city school district where the kids have absolutely nothing. so the teachers wiill often buy gifts for the students. The teacher I worked under gave one of her students (male) a pair of shoes because his was falling apart and his family doesn't have money

I'm not "getting you wrong." You're just wrong. There is absolutely nothing wrong with getting presents from teachers. So far the only thing you have to support your claim is "It's just wrong." That's not exactly a convincing argument.

I am not gonna argue at our school there is a teacher student barrier strict line and that girls is an example of why teachers don't give presents to students. They may take it the wrong way and it may end up in a disaster.
