Why are pornstars not respected and why do you think there is a stigma behind them? Do you personally respect them? Explain?

They are not respected because their work involves cultural and religious taboos that are deeply rooted in a lot of the major religions. Part of the job is to preform sexual acts that are considered formication and (if they're married) adultery.

There are also unsafe sexual practices that potentially expose them to STI's.

Additionally, pornography is considered to be demeaning particularly to women because the majority of it's consumers are men.

The behavior if pornstars generally, and female pornstars specifically also goes against our biological inclinations, where women tend to be extremely selective about their sexual partners. Why? Because a sexual encounter that results in a pregnancy is far more costly for a woman than it is for a man. Female pornstars, and other sex workers are going against that flow.

There's also an appeal to emotion: Ask 100 people: "Would you be OK if your child decides to become a pornstar?" I would expect virtually all of them to give an emphatic "No!".

Personally, I give them the same basic respect that I give to all human beings, but I do not respect their choices. At the same time, I understand that some of them may have ended up in this situation due to extenuating circumstances, so I feel more sympathy towards them than anything else.

i think for many sex is an expression of love or at least strong feelings between two people. i think many people feel that when a person effectively allows their body to be objectified (which undoubtedly what a porn star does) particularly in the often explicit ways porn stars do then it speaks to a lack of self-respect. i think that lack of self-respect and the rather explicit ways in which porn stars willfully objectify themselves causes some people to not respect them

I'm neutral, I neither respect nor disrespect them just because they're porn stars. It's a career choice just like any other, and I don't inherently respect or disrespect some choices over others. It doesn't affect my life.
Regarding the stigma, I guess it's because most people still value only having sex in a relationship and not broadcasting those intimate moments for the world to see. So those who stigmatize it probably see it as a way of seeking attention or "doing gross things in front of others". There's quite a big stigma around sex in general, of it being dirty or shameful which of course affects the way people think about porn and porn stars.

No I don't, like others have said, it's glamorized prostitution. I also don't respect porn in general. One, because I don't agree with it. Okay, so where I don't agree with porn is where they have girls forced into it or it caters to some sex trafficking agencies. However, in regards to pornstars, they don't normally get respect because people view them as dirty for selling their bodies and putting out there for everyone to see. But in my opinion, of course, everyone deserves at least basic human respect. But they also deserve respect because they do offer a great service, or else they wouldn't be porn STARS.
