There are a couple of schools of thought to the unhappiness over mass migration. The easy assumption to make is that everyone is just racist and doesn't want dark people taking over. The more accurate story is one of people seeing their own beliefs and traditions be marginalised in their own country so as not to offend every other culture. Examples would be Christians being banned from wearing crucifixes at work while Muslims can wear hijabs, or Christian advertising being banned from the side of buses while Muslim advertising is allowed. Both of these things have happened. Furthermore, these are things which the reverse of would never be tolerated in Muslim countries.
The huge push on tolerance went too far, to the point of pandering and it has created resentment. Not resentment of foreigners themselves, but of the legal suppression of anything that may offend anyone, whether objectively offensive or not, and the prioritising of handouts for those who have contributed nothing to the country at point of entry.
This is what the radical left do. They find someone in need, then they find someone to whom they assign privilege, then they move the person in need into your house and give them the rights to change your wallpaper and tell you what you can watch on your TV.
