I once heard a great quote once, by one of my friends I consider an avid philosopher.
"Let's pretend your life is a sailboat, and life's challenges is the wind that is blowing. What would you do? Would you hope the winds got better, give up trying to fight the wind, or would you set the sails to your advantage?"
"I would set the sails, so I can get to my destination."
"Exactly, you would. That's a logical decision. Now, what do you think the different choices allude to?"
"The first is optimistic, the second is pessimistic, and the second is realistic."
"Correct. As I may see it, the realists aren't on any side of the coin; it is merely neutral.
Optimists see the best in everything,
despite it possibly not even being there to begin with. Hope controls this philosophy, but false hope is a thing as well.
Pessimists see the negatives in everything, seeing how bad it is, and how bad it may become. I really have no singular adjective or noun to describe this philosophy except, well, pessimism, but negative focus controls this philosophy.
Realists see things as it is; no more, no less. We do not have a sort of lens, a camera filter, so to speak. We see things as they are, not what it could be. Logic controls this philosophy.
After all that I have said, which mindset would you have?"
"I would have the realistic mindset, though I suspect that you spoke highly of the latter due to being a realist yourself."
"Mhm. I will admit there's both advantages and faults with all 3 of these philosophy types, don't get me wrong, however, I personally believe the world is in favor of those who see reality, not the happy dream or sad nightmare or sisyphean effort it might be."

Optimist but at the same time I have a humor that leans towards pessimist
I'm an optimist. Sometimes I step back and look at the things I say and realize that I must sound crazy. But then I think about it, and I still believe all of it. My friends think it's ridiculous. But I have yet to be proven wrong.
Definetly realist. Optimist the majority of the time. Pessimist when in a really bad mood. Almost never an opportunist.

i'm very pessimistic, i've had too much shit to deal with in my 16 years of existence so i always expect the worst so that when it does happen i'm not surprised or hit very hard, and on the other end of the spectrum when it does go well i'm very happy.
life made me an optimist. I have to be, because I've had a rough go of it. practically lived in the hospital growing up. had to think of how things could be worse so I could feel better. that with a sense of humor has kept me going through the hardest times.
I would say that depending on how someone perceives me I am a little bit of all of them. I am optimistic of most everything, but I prepare for the worst. I do that though because I know in reality that most people will eventually let you down. Knowing that allows me to wait until it happens, which makes for an opportune moment, like this, in which to string together a seemingly never ending sentence.
I am all of them.
Because its my job to be. Optimist, due to the nature of my work is harder to exercise, however, I would safely say that I am all 4.
Though it is worth mentioning, 5 years ago, I was barely any of them. I have developed myself to be almost all 4.
The optimisim part I am trying to work on. It is hard, because sometimes pessimisim is required. Switching between the two can be diffucult.Because if I was gonna be a pessimist, I'd have a shit time because of all the horrific things that go wrong in my life. I can fall, not get up, and stay in depression. Too dangerous, I rather be happy.
Also most "realistics" are actually pessimists in denial. I actually respect pessimists more, generally-speaking, considering they actually know what they're doing.Optimistic and realistic at the same time. I’m am optimistic when it comes to be motivated and during working and realistic when I am waiting for he results. Being negative can only bring you negative energies around you, or make your life worst.
I am all of them.
Depends when.
If I’m feeling down I see things in a sad light. If they’re good I feel nothing can stop me.
I’m just someone who changed her mind a lot.Realist. I feel like looking at something for anything but what it really is, is just pretending it's something different
What’s it called when you drink the whole glass and don’t care?
I'm considering myself realistic, but people call me pessimistic.
Because I'm honest about who and what I am, and my nonexistent abilities.
But people can't admit it so they tell me I'm pessimistic. While I'm just describing the reality.Pessimistic. I can't remember a time where I've genuinely been happy and I feel like I'm dragging my lifeless husk of a body through a shitty existence. Literally everything in my day to day life depresses me
I think I am too pessimistic
I am surprised someone actually loves meI am quite the optimist, maybe because almost good things happen to me.
Ususlly optimistic. Sometimes pessimitic and sometimes realistic.
I can be any of those. I think most of the time it's hard to control which one you are.
mood swings, period, hormonies
i can be all and nothing , the miracle of puberty1) most men are realist to the extent of knowledge that they have
2) most women are opportunist they care about themselves and their own survival they do not care about men in generalBoth opportunist and realist but more of a realist.
I'm Realist -I'm person who accepts things for what they are and accept them for what they are.
Most of the time, I'm quite pessimistic by nature but sometimes I'm oddly optimistic which worries me lol
