It depends on the circumstances. If he told her not to get an abortion and that he wanted a kid, then changes his mind after the baby is born, he should still have to pay. If he didn’t know she was pregnant or told her he didn’t want her to have the baby and she can afford to raise it comfortably, he shouldn’t have to pay. If he didn’t know she was pregnant or told her he didn’t want her to have the baby and she can’t afford to raise it comfortably, he should pay but she should pay him back after the child is 18. My main concern in any scenario is the children- they didn’t ask to be born to irresponsible parents and they shouldn’t get a poor upbringing because their parents didn’t plan this properly.

Why was the mother stupid enough to have the baby without his consent and he should have to bail her out cuz she wasn’t smart enough to afford it?

She was stupid to have a baby she can’t afford with a man who doesn’t want it. He was stupid to have sex with an impractical woman who didn’t share his plans for having a kid and would put him in a situation like that. They’re both irresponsible and don’t deserve comfort at this point- now the goal is to make sure this kid has as much support as possible. He should pay what he can afford and he’ll get his money back later.

I’ve always been on board with this lol. For the period of time a woman has the option to legally have an abortion; a man should have the right to waive his parental rights and financial obligation. I think it needs to be contained to that timeframe though.
While I understand there is a child at the end of the road that at the end of the day needs to be paid for, women get two chances to say no to being a parent (contraception and abortion) and doing it alone financially should factor into that second choice. If they don’t believe in abortion then they should choose their sex partners carefully to align with those beliefs should the unexpected happen
