Do you think Kim Minji is oversexualized by her company?
Do you agree that she's oversexualized? Here are some videos of her dances
With these videos as the only ones I can judge from, and with no prior knowledge of Kim Minji, I don't think she is OVER sexualized... but sexualized? Yeah, to some extent. In the debut one, she is extremely sexual in her style and that is a bit unnerving. Seeing that it is also a debut dance, it's more than likely she was at least encouraged if not outright forced to dance like THAT, compared to her in the other videos.
Honestly, I think maybe her dance style sort of incorporates some amount of 'sexiness' in it? But I think she was definitely oversexualized in the debut one. I hope she doesn't get overwhelmed with pressure and shit she doesn't want to do and make sure her happiness and wellbeing come first and foremost.
Because at the end if the day, no matter how many of your fans care about you, you are your main carer and nobody should or can take away that from you. I wish her the best.
That makes a lot of since, if you see some of her groups music videos they aren't sexual at all, they're actually really soft and cutesy:

Its all age appropriate with the ages of them as of now ranging from 14-18. I do think its possible that she was encouraged or forced to do such a sexual dance and wear those clothes. This has happened a few times in the Korean music industry. The most known ones are the now disbanded Stellar and Hyuna. For Stellar they were a girl group that were known for being the sexiest group in Korea but about 2 years ago they revealed that they were forced to do a sexy concept even though they told their producers multiple times that they were uncomfortable with it, but couldn't leave since their contracts weren't over yet. And for Hyuna she debuted when she was only 15 in Wonder Girls under JYP entertainment. They're one of the most popular K-pop groups of all time and didn't have a very sexual concept but Hyuna in particular was seen as they sexy member since her debut. She even did this solo dance at their debut stage:
https://youtu.be/tewNXEQt4BU After that she left JYP once her contract expired and joined CUBE where she debuted in 4minute. She was 17 at the time of her debut and was still seen as the sexy member just like in Wonder Girls. During her time in 4minute she began a career as a soloist where she was more sexualized then ever. After that she made a song that at first she covered up as a sweet love song about dating someone who makes you feel loved but it was later revealed to be about sexualization of minors in the K-pop industry. After that she left her company to join Psy's company and seems a lot happier now that she has this more wholesome and sweet concept. I really think that anything is possible and hope she can just do what she wants and be happy now that she left her company.
I disagreed until this video:
https://www.youtube.com/embed/gwiAKPORpR8Honestly, even at 16 that's a bit much, hey? It would be different if she wasn't wearing hotpants...
I wasn't innocent at 16, so I think it's her decision. However, her past will always haunt her, maybe she'll regret it, so I'd say the parents should have told her that she should put more clothes on in that video.
Yeah, but the Kpop industry is different then the west. She could've been forced by her company there was a really famous group named Stellar who were forced by their company to do a sexy concept although they were uncomfortable with it.
Another example is Hyuna, she had been sexualized ever since she debuted at only 14 until she made a song exposing the K-pop industry:

After that she left and joined PSY's company, Pnation, and is doing less sexual concepts and seems really happy.
here's the kind of music videos she was doing before (definitely the most sexual one):

And the kind she's doing now:

So she could've wanted to leave due to this, but she couldn't since her contract wasn't over so her parents had to pull her out instead. Besides, Korean singers live in dorms with their groups away from their parents most of time, so they never really have much say in it and the outfit was her stylist idea.
Looks bad, pretty embarassing too. Poor girls.
Not at all. What I see is just a very good dancer who is on her way to a good career in it, if wanted. But as for the over sexualization, by today’s standards she is pretty tame, tbh. Look at some rap videos sometime, you’ll be like 😳😳😳😳
Thats America though, this is really bad for Korea. Their most popular groups are usually cutesy like this: https://youtu.be/V2hlQkVJZhE https://youtu.be/rRzxEiBLQCA https://youtu.be/J0h8-OTC38I https://youtu.be/WyiIGEHQP8o Even the group she debuted in was like that: https://youtu.be/qQHvXJIGPX4 Now I'm gonna stop sending links cause Im kind of just promoting my favorite groups now, anyway, western rap videos would be considered porn to most Koreans.
there's other types of concepts in korean music too, the most tame sexy concepts are usually by EXID like these:

https://youtu.be/axVvZrDz60k
But there are some other ones that are super frowned upon in Korea (which is kinda sad bc it shouldn't be frowned upon to express sexuality because its a natural thing):

The last one is probably my least favorite out of all of the songs
Nothing worse than the crap these hoes in America are doing
Yeah, you're right, we're a lot less conservative in America than in Korea.
@Girther10 If I had to rank them it would be last

Yeah she is oversexualized but she still is a great dancer better than i’ll ever be 😂
I felt that
Loll
Depends where this people who complain are from or how their mindset is. 😂😂
At 18 how did her parents pull her out.
She isn't legally an adult in Korea yet, the legal age in Korea is 19 or 20 I believe.
No problem
her company?
Yeah, she was signed with a company called JTG Entertainment when she was still in the group.
Ohhh her dance company. maybe, she is somewhat sexual
