Why do people photoshop their picture?

I’ve noticed that people look really photoshopped on social media, and if you look closely there’s a lot of people who photoshop themselves. Why do people do that, when we know that that isn’t what they look like in real life, and why isn’t anyone pointing it out?

Also is photoshopping yourself to look “perfect” hurting younger generations and their perceptions of beauty? Why does it matter so much how you are portrayed online when the majority of the people viewing your pictures doesn’t even care about you? What even matters anymore hahah

The simple answer is because they can. The myriad of underlying reasons range from feelings of inadequacy to outright fraud.

If you take time to reason this through it is really no more deceptive than a person with criminal intent who carries a briefcase and dresses in a suit and tie.

The point is that liars are gonna lie and it is up to you to be savvy enough not to be taken in by them.

So far as the youth to come, we really have no idea at this point exactly what challenges they will face, especially as world governments move ever closer to the devaluation and domination of the individual, but I'm willing to bet that pretending to be beautiful will not even make the top ten list of daily concerns.

They have self-esteem issues. If they're not looking like a dime for all the guys they'd reject and all the girls they want to make jealous, all of these followers they don't care about and would never meet, then are they really attractive? Do they have worth? In their minds, the answer is no.
