No in that way, we all will be in mess we are now:
Chasing latest iPhone and use only 5% of its possibly or chasing designers/branded clothes, when in most cases they are same as cheap ones in most cases.
And latest cars or phones are full of faults so no point of buying them when they first show up, wait untill at least main bugs eliminated...
Main think about your vision people need new things as older keep breaking as they are made not to last long as in case they will last nobody will want to buy any more and billionaires will not get more money... And stupid show offs will not get poorer...
Greed is good until it becomes obscene
I know plenty of millionaires some are quite unassuming and some are blatent and flashy
A million is basic in a lifetime (40 years earning 25k is a million)
A billion tends to be the cut off between rational and obscene
I know a guy worth £50m who buys a new car every month as he gets bored and another worth £20M whose son (a friend of mine worth about £4M himself)
Bought a Rolls Royce that was newer and bigger than his (he had a Ghost and his son has a Phantom) so he has leased the old car to his son's business and bought a Cullinan for himself
Today, greed is a symbol of neglect. The greed of the people maintains the economy, the greed is economically positive, for the people themselves a certificate of poverty.
Greed in a good way is fine.. If it's for selfish means it hell ain't good!

No greed is not required, passion and goals is. If we didn't have greed and more of the other we could surpass todays economy not in quantity but quality. Greed only leads to struggle and uneven distribution and over exploitation. This would mean we wouldn't have money instead worked to better the world.
I just love greedy people. That make my day. Because they go out and buy buy buy and want want want and acquire... and before long they have too much stuff. So they have a yard sale. And I go there and buy their $800 Hugo Boss suit which they never wore for 10 dollars. And I think for 10 bucks I'm looking pretty damn good! Yeah! I'm happy. Yeah greedy people Rock!
Americans are too greedy. There's no point of acquiring more, more, more!
Solomon in Ecclesiastes was the richest man of his day and he found it ultimately unsatisfying, saying, "Vanity, vanity, all is vanity!" We should invest more in relationships than in mere things.
Modern day economic theory is pushing really bad science. When the real answer is in a form of philosophy question.
No, selfishness and greed are the greatest evil I come across in my daily life. The economy needs competence, ambition, and efficiency.
Right, I get that but you don't always want just what you need. You don't need a big house, you don't need beautiful clothes you don't need a great car you can acquire as little as you can just to survive. That would be what you need. But you want more and so does 99% of the people
Wanting a better house isn't greed, that's success and ambition. Most religious people plan on having a family which will require a bigger house, a requirement, and need. Once you will have kids, a car is highly beneficial for supporting their growth and teaching.
Greed and ambition share the desirer to achieve or gain things. The difference is acquiring more for power or status. Ambition is a burning desire to improve your and your loved ones' conditions. That's more compassion than greed.
There's a difference in being zealous and getting greedy. People who strive with ambition, to reach their goals or for knowledge to increase, is zeal. Greed is one of the 7 deadly sins that God actually HATES. Don't think greed is good.
I respectfully disagree with you on that
Ambition is the drive to achieve your goals like starting a business. You're not completely wrong that there is a fine line because if your intentions are selfish, any gain could be considered from greed. However, greed is always craving new things and more. Not for a greater good or to benefit others, but for selfish reasons; for your own gain. Greed is never being satisfied with what you already have. Ambition is pursuing goals and once reached, raising the bar for yourself but essentially, to benefit others in the long run or for a greater good. Not just for yourself. I hope that made sense
Work is fine to buy your needs to extra stuff. Greed isn't. Greedy people are often callous and very selfish individuals, they don't care about anyone except themselves and sometimes can do the most outrageous things to others to get what they desire.
The same guy Gordon Gecko is based upon also is an advocate for the "velocity of money".
https://www.youtube.com/embed/SXO1loCBV4IGreed isn't good but ambition is. It's a fine line my friend, walk carefully
Greed makes people work harder to better their own lot in life, in a capitalist system you must provide either a positive good or service to another entity to attain more goods and services yourself. Greed raises the standard of living for everyone.
I don’t think it’s good or bad. I think it exists and economic structures should take advantage of it.
I think that greed is bad. People who say that greed is good are failing to account for the possibility that people will spend money for reasons other than personal gain.
A little bit of greed can be good, but too much is a very bad thing.
It depends what you are greeding after , knowledge, experience, things like these are great. Even pushing for money, as long its not at the expense of others.
Getting what you want honestly and ethically is good. Hurting people and taking what you have not really earned is bad. I did the first route and it was fulfilling. I saw others do the second route and they are what’s wrong with the world.
I think it's good if it isn't too much. Sometimes it's just best to be selfish
In my opinion almost everything is good in moderation, get too far on either end of the spectrum and you got a problem
... but someone would always need something so demand and the work force wouldn't fall because greedy people cease to be greedy.
No it's not people who are like that are often corrupt and in it for themselves. They aren't making the world a better place or anything.
Not at all. Greediness is disgusting to me
Greed is evil
In some instances
Yes. But needs regulation. Like a dam.
Maybe just sometimes
No it isn’t.
it’s a sin so no
