There are way too many people who may read this and think it doesn’t apply to them. If we are afraid of truth, then we are afraid of the light. It’s the allegory of the cave, everyone sees shapes on the walls and they guess what they are seeing and with no reference of what they’re talking about. Until one day someone leaves the cave and encounters daylight for the first time, they find a tree, then animals, civilization, food, books, etc... then when they come back to the cave to explain everything they’re looked at as being completely out... of... their... damn... mind. Today this reminds me of the times when people go outside of the normal “accepted” news channels, finds the truth, tries to report back and are told “oh, you must be a conspiracy theorist.” Hope that makes sense

Well I guess that our fear of darkness is really a fear of the unknown. As we get older and develop ideas about how the world works which may be wrong, the truth (light) becomes our new darkness.
The deeper meaning in the quote lies in how our perceptions change as we age and obtain more knowledge and life experience.
It's describing ignorance, lack of knowledge, lack of interest in learning. Ignorance is a travesty and roadblock to enjoying the good life.
We should all remember,
The good life is one which is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge. Neither love without knowledge nor knowledge without love can produce a good life.
And that would be a real tragedy.
Very accurate. In this age of technology, this could be very valid. You can teach a child the difference between good and bad, light and darkness but people who are already grown up? They would keep digging a larger hole until they find a place to sit their tombstone.

The dark is often the easier path to take, and also very appetizing since its easily obtainable. Still the path of the light is a harsh trial of life and people rarely take it since its a burden for a longer time and not always rewarding in the way you want
Well it depends on how the reader interprets "the light." I don't think life is so black and white where you could only have one or the other, also, what is light for someone could be dark for someone else
anxiety is terrible. it protects us from terrible things but you can become anxiety of things you should do. and if you start avoiding those things, you won't be able to conquer the thins you should do anymore.
I agree. My interpretation is that we should train the children to know all the aspects of life so they aren’t learning the hard way later in their lives because they aren’t raised right. Don’t ruin the children
I don't know about the real world but it makes perfect sense in Star Wars.
Sounds like something Yoda would say.Too much exposure to the sun can genuinely cause serious problems lol
But seriously, it's a good motivational quote. Why is that? Light is blinding. Sunlight is perhaps one of the most damaging things in the world...
The immense majority of people hate the light and truth, that's why Jesus Christ was hated.
Sounds like generic word salad that could apply to any situation. Plato has said better.
Being afraid of the light. You just described the left wing perfectly.
the young fear the dark, because the old haven't taught them not to be
If light is the Truth of God's purpose then 100% agree that men fear it.
I would agree if the last word was fight or I was a vampire.
It is my fav and completely true
I like that quote and I think it's true.
We are afraid of success?
