It's not a slur; while it may be a mildly rude word to use, it's more based on their behavior than race. If someone's rude and/or violent about little things, someone might call them a Karen, but you wouldn't walk up to any white woman on the street and call them a Karen if they didn't do anything wrong. It's also not a word that's necessarily JUST for white women, but white women are more often caught behaving in a privileged/entitled and annoying sort of way.

A Karen can be any race and they can be men too they are just people who have a need to be in control. Even over things that are trivial and menial to most people.

That is why they freak out over little things… Because it makes them feel in control. As well as when one thing doesn’t go the way they want it to… They feel as if they have lost control. So they will flip shit.

That’s what Karen’s are. That’s what drives them… When they need the manger for something or call the police over something little. It’s a control thing. That’s all it really is. They have a need to be in control.

Managers and cops can be Karen’s… Many or the biggest Karen’s I’ve met are people in management positions, working as cops, in schools as teachers, administrators, and in paraprofessional roles. No, it's not specifically a racial slur. Most Karens happen to be white, but it specifically refers to middle-aged women who have particular attitudes toward things like food service, retail work, neighborhood upkeep, school management, etc.
