Why Turkey is against diplomatic ties of Israel and Arab world when they themselves have it from 1949?

Because diplomatic ties between Turkey and Israel have been very controversial and disliked since the Gaza flotilla raid, when Israel raided and shot 9 activists to defend it’s blockade of the Gaza strip. Generally speaking, the Israelis had the right to defend that blockade but the violence used was unreasonable. Turkey maintains it was simply murder in an attempt to uphold a blockade against Palestinians.


Over the years, Turkey has also sort of radicalized in terms of Israel where they basically say Israel is very much evil. The problem is that cancelling ties with Israel would bring about immediate condemnation from various European nations and the USA (especially). Additionally, Turkey sells for billions every year in Israel.


It’s easier to maintain diplomatic ties and uphold trade while scolding them and working against Israel than incur costs of cutting ties.
