In my view Imperialism was overwhelmingly a positive thing for the world.
Not only was the colonizing power able to benefit from acquiring more resources but it also enabled the flow and exchange of information between different cultures.
This gave rise to a Global Economy where European countries were able to trade and receive goods from other places. Such as the India spice trade or China silk trade.
Different cultures were also able to acquire new ideas and technologies from eachother.
Without colonization we would have no knowledge of the outside world and eachother. Our qualities of life would presumably be much lower.
It also helped to civilize our societies.
Before the introduction of Christianity there were many tribes of people around the Globe who still practiced Cannibalism and Human Sacrifice.
This was even the commonplace practice in Europe before the presence of Christianity was brought to the region.
Christianity helped to civilize world culture by defining our modern standards of morals and ethics to this day.
We now have a much greater understanding than we did before of how we can all obtain salvation from God.
Even in today’s world Christian doctrine and belief still governs modern society, including in countries that aren’t Christian themselves, since the influence was still passed forth.
Name me one country today that still legalizes Cannibalism, human sacrifice, slavery, murder or rape, which are all things the Bible explicity opposses.
If it wasn’t for Colonization the world’s population would be far worse off than it is right now.
It is for this very reason that I say we reach out to the world’s remaining uncontacted peoples to give them a better life, and to civilize them from the savage ways they have grown accustomed to.
Humanity is naturally evil after all. Before God’s message reached us we all fell short of any chance at Salvation.
