i could on board with that. campaign finance law is an issue for that, and/or the amount of money one has to spend in an election, unfortunately it cost millions According to NPR Joe Biden spent 1.69 Billion according to NPR Joe Biden spent 1.69 billon and trump 1.96 billion.
My house representative kim Schrier spent 757,164 follar on her campaign and he's the House representative of Kittas county Washington (this CWU) she makes weight over $1 million a year she a doctor. actually a doctor not like jill biden. so as much as I would like to see people making 200,000 a year or less to be able to run for office currently I don't see how it's possible. especially when you have a bigger community. our committee is about 43,289. and she had to spend 3/4 of $1 million. imagine Seattle New York City LA San Francisco Dallas and other major cities
if you have a solution I will be going to the debate if good idea or a bad idea, Personally I think we should set an IQ limit nobody passed 130 IQ can run but there's many issues with that idea to

No, but I believe they should be in Congress in proportion to the country. For example, if one out of every 10 citizens is a millionaire, then only 1/10 politicians should be millionaires. Also, the real problem with politics is how campaigns are funded. Politicians have to make and honor promises to campaign donors to keep their career alive. We could eliminate this by changing campaigns from being funded by donors to a system where every candidate gets an equal amount of screen time on a predetermined channel that MOST citizens can watch. There would be no funding of campaigns so the candidates could be a little more honest. If an elected official breaks their promises (which would be noted by this impartial channel), then a committee would be formed to expel that candidate and the next most popular candidate would immediately take over until the next election cycle.
Classism is an issue, the wealthy has always been the enemy. The middle class is dying. I think the government should be all normal folks.
Why do you think people get into politics. They want legal bribes from lobbyist, free healthcare and to be above the law.

No. I don't think so. If it's a democracy, doing so would be violating an individual's rights. I do believe that rich people should be barred from using their wealth to gain an advantage though. Let there be a fair competition regardless of position and/or wealth.
Trump gained his wealth through entrepreneurship as a private citizen, so it's more acceptable to me. The life-long politicians that have upwards of 100 million when their salaries that don't match up... those are the ones I can't stand. It's just so apparent that their fortune has been created through cronyism. *Cough* Nancy Pelosi is worth 200 million *Cough*
Many Democrats are millionaires, its on both sides. Reality is though, most of congress, the senate and even presidents are rich by my standards.
Doesn't matter what party they are in. Even though it would require a constitutional amendment in the US to say rich people can't run, while we are at it maybe we should say no more lawyers can run.
Its by far lawyers in DC and look at the mess they've caused... maybe farmer Joe would do a better job.Coming poor and leaving rich, now that should not happen! When you go into office you hear them
Say we’re gonna do this that or the other thing! And end up getting another term. Till Biden has been
In there for 40+ years or Pelosi. In my opinion what needs to happen to ALL levels of government
Is term limits. And short ones.We have free country and any citizen who qualifies under the Constitution can run for office. There should however be some way to prohibit political contributions and maybe political advertising. Let the government sponsor all candidates and holding debates and other venues for candidates to state their views on the issues.
Yea. Only unsuccessful people should be in politics. Successful people should not. A track record means nothing.
While we are at it. Let's only send people who never won a race to the Olympics. Anyone who won should be banned.Define "rich". Rich in relation to what, or whom? Compared to a starving refugee I'm incredibly rich, but not compared to someone like Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos.
No. And I’ll tell you why. You’d be taking out a possible amazing future presidential candidate by doing that.
Just because someone has money, it doesn’t make them corrupt. It’s actually the opposite. It means they’ve wisely saved their money, or invested in the right places. Which is a sign of intellect. I definitely do not support this idea, because it has no merit.I'll run for president , can't mess it up anymore than it already is. Maybe I shouldn't tho , i'd get mad and make everyone in America fly the friendly skies naked. That wouldn't work tho because then there would be gay terrorist , where else they going to hide the knife.
No. Rich or poor everyone who is a citizen can aspire to political office.
I think they should work in reg. type jobs. Like from factories and stuff.
No rich guys, no lawyers, just ord. everyday people.
The people that work and live in the streets and know what really goes on. Not some puppet in a suitDepends on what they believe in and what they stand for, not the amount of money. Unless they use it to reach higher standards.
if people want to get serious about 3rd party voting then they need to nominate an online persona. how can you stop that?
What needs to happen is a set amount of adds and tv time set for each and they can't use a dime of their own or donated money
IMHO, if a person makes more than the congressional or executive salaries then they should not eligible to run for office. Also, the only way a rich person could hold office is if they were selected by lottery of all eligible voters.
Rich people only think of being richer. They should not be in politics.
I understand why this bothers people but banning people from politics on the basis of their income wouldn't be terribly democratic, would it?
Freedom of speech, Freedom of the press, and freedom to position are all included in the Bill of Rights. Although we may not necessarily share the same outlooks or opinions, it would be unconstitutional to barr the rich from politics.
No, poor people should. Many are dumb ass people who will vote based in color of the skin or color of the party.
