Scotland is going to be independent soon, there's no doubt. What are your thoughts?

This is the big one. Support for independence is higher and stronger now than it was back in 2014, even in "English" Edinburgh. And 99% of the young are excited.

Of course they'd earn it; they're rich, healthy and hard working.

England got their independence too (Brexit).

Catalonia has a similar mindset to Scotland, the former will be free from Spain.

Quebec and Wales aren't so lucky. Quebec stubbornly and blindly opposes independence, only a few bespectacled mangy old farts would support it, the young are all "Canadian first, Quebecois second" and even see Calgary as their capital and not Montreal. If anything, the ROC is highly in favor of getting independent from Quebec. As for the Welsh, well they've pooped on their own culture for years, and now they've shown their true colors: leaving the EU with their English pals.

Anyway, good luck Scotland!

It’d be economically ridiculously stupid. They’d have a massive fiscal deficit that would require cutting spending massively on e. g. healthcare or raising taxes by a lot.


Unless they do so, they wouldn’t even be eligible to begin applying to the EU even if they wanted to.


Also, if the conditions on their currency are a bit unfavorable and their central bank is not sufficiently credible, they’d be utterly fucked economically speaking.


So yeah, in economics, it is quite the brazen, potentially self-destructive move.

I don’t care too much about that. I would prefer to see Hong Kong independent of the Mainland China and I’m Mainland Chinese myself I just don’t like Hong Kong Chinese that much and don’t want to associate with them.

Apart from a handful of hardcore nationalists there's little appetite for independence in either Scotland or wales. The 4 nations may grumble about each other but they no it would be stupid to break up the union.

Ireland isn't part of the uk. North Ireland is and most of them want to remain so.

The answer to every question about Ireland is religion. The south is predominantly Catholic and they voted to leave the union , but the north is protestant and they wanted to stay.

The cabin crew suggested we all go out and club it. I had no option. It was that or one of their B&Bs. I figured it'd be safer on the streets. For the first time ever I saw the Scotch in their natural habitat, and it weren't pretty. I'd seen them huddling in stations before, being loud but… this time I was surrounded. Everywhere I went it felt like they were watching me; fish-white flesh puckered by the Highland breeze; tight eyes peering out for fresh meat; screechy, booze-soaked voices hollering out for a taxi to take 'em halfway up the road to the next all-night watering hole. A shatter of glass; a round of applause; a sixteen-year-old mother of three vomiting in an open sewer, bairns looking on, chewing on potato cakes. I ain’t never going back… not never.
