Allow me to answer candidly: There's a few mainstream perceptions here in the West that most share. Firstly, you possess a deplorable caste system, a relic of Hinduism that displaces poor people in the multitudes to be regarded as lower than dirt. Secondly, your country does terribly poorly in environmentalism, your pollution is through the roof, (the Ganges for example), and entire streets are covered in filth and refuse in your major cities. Thirdly, tremendous slums coexist right next to opulent wealth, people with everything a stone throw away from people with less than nothing, that does not do your image any favors.

Indian men have an extremely low repute as well for how they behave online. They're creepy, perverted, pushy and have zero social skills. "hi hru show bobs and vagane pls". They don't know how to talk to people and most often they come across as less than intelligent. Hindus are also known to be extremely violent and fanatic, as a Christian I know that not even Muslims pose as big a security threat to missionaries as Hindus do who assault, threaten and vandalize and even kill.

Regardless, you must recognize that we are speaking of plastic import* as in the initiative that the Indian government itself takes to import waste or agree to receive waste as an added national income, which poor nations may opt to do. No nation can simply force another to receive waste. So the issue still revolves back to India's own policies, even as they do pursue an active green policy and renewable energy plan nowadays. All in all, the issue is multilayered.

The level of India's waste hasn't come to be solely because of western nations either. India is heavily westernized in culture and consumerism is rampant there as well. It's a fact that the vast majority of waste from first world countries are sent to south Asian countries. So you can't say these countries ( India including ) are dirty when they are receive the world's garbage.
