I find it so it so funny that she is pissed that she has to share her tips and even sometime pay the tips herself to the back staff! 😂 Its not a nice feeling is it when you are forced to pay your hard earned money as a tip just because someone says so and is considered socially unacceptable not to is it? Its a complete an utter scam , I despise tipping its a USA thing.. Its crept in here Thailand because of USA influence , but its low so I dont care too much. 1. Tipping is irrational , you are subsidising a restaurant owner , establishment owner to put on more people than he / she needs to and pay them $5 a hour , ludicrous , its then sold on sympathy. 2 . You dont tip in fast food , they get the same money. 3 . You dont tip in retail shops , they often get the same money. 4 . So many underclass examples that you DONT tip , yet you have this area that expects it.
Here they have golf caddies , most are utterly useless and a distraction , not good at their job , its piece work , so they get the fee from the club , plus they expect double again , ludicrous.
So whats the outcome of all this? You dine out LESS ( in a free enterprise system , ludicrous ) You play golf less , bcoz you dont want the dam caddy , you have to have them. The entire system is anti productivity , while some restaurant owner gets a subsidy , while others get nothing.

It is true i suspect one of the main reasons why people want to be waiters is they could potentially make a lot more money than minimum wage by getting a lot of uncapped tips so in effect its like every waiter has a gofundme and taking all of that money out of people's hands instead of their employer... They honestly should get another job and stop complaining and begging strangers for money there is already plenty of beggars and panhandlers on the streets
The overwhelming majority of restaurants don’t “make shittons of money” Most make very little or none at all, hence why most fail in under a year. If they paid staff more they’d just have to charge more so it’s coming out of our pocket anyway, and I’d much rather it go straight to their pocket without the government getting a cut

When I was a kid we stopped at Denny's for breakfast. We got lousy service and us kids chanted so she could hear - "The waitress is a drip, she's not going to get a tip!" Some restaurants now add a tip to your bill automatically so you don't have to tip your waiter/waitress. To me that just means they don't have to give good service because they get a tip either way.
Well said... this custom was my major gripe when in USA.. Yet the poor kind standing in McDs , gets nothing , while you subsidise a multi millionaire restaurant owner. Never had a tip in my life other than " be nice to your mother " lol
Its a shame restaurants don't pay their staff enough, they have to beg for tips to make a living. And from what i've heard the US is the worst of all in this regard.
This guy's rant is foolish, especially when he complains about over priced fancy restaurants. No one forces you to go there. Tipping is different all around the world and depends where you are. I'm sure not going to debate or get into why it is one way here and another there, and what's wrong with systems where tipping is required.

I understand the origin of its use in the USA, and it's not pleasant. Some states even banned the practice, but that was overturned and ruled unconstitutional. However, the concept of tipping itself, and its origin, is unclear. It might have been a add on, it might have been a substitute for a wage or payment, we're not sure. It may also be more elitist than anything racist At this point in time in the USA, it's an entirely different animal, and the restaurant industry, especially at the local level, has difficulties of its own to tackle.
What is really funny is when they think they can retire and find out not reporting their tips has reduced their SS payments to min level. Like $400 a month. Then they know , they will now be doing the same job for 10 more years or they won't make it.
i remember being a line cook at a busy restaurant. i was surprised when i got my first tip out. they didn't happen regularly though and it pissed me off after i knew what was going on
While tipping sucks, it isn't the server who decided servers get paid ridiculously low wages, and it isn't the servers who created the tipping culture. That said, the culture does exist, and if you don't want to tip, don't fucking go to restaurants.
I absolutely agree with that. That is what they have been fighting for... people are telling them they don't deserve livable wages apparently, usually the republican fucks. They should be getting paid more. In the meantime, don't fucking go to restaurants if you aren't going to tips the servers and bartenders, you clearly can't afford to go if you complain about it. You are an asshole if you don't tip, plain and simple. The politics around it doesn't matter.
I disagree It depends on the service they provide if i tip or not but yes generally i do tip but that doesn't not mean we cannot discuss the subject of tipping and trying to change it so the business owners actually pay their wages!
I only haven't tipped 2 times in my life because the service was awful and they had an awful attitude also. I told them I wasn't tipping and explained why. Most of the time, even if the service is bad, as long as the server is trying hard and is nice I'll still tip at least 15%
No , there is more than one country in the world , and its certainly not a recognised business practise all over the world. The wonderful US of A can do whatever it likes , but we certainly DONT tip , nor is it mandatory. Its anti free enterprise , and it actually cuts down real productive expenditure.
