Yes. But only because you used a very bad way to frame your question. If you as a parent abuse your child in any way then the government should definitely step in and take your child from you. Likewise they should be put into school and they should be feed and they should have proper clothes etc..

A parent should not be able to for example force children to work in the name of "raising them". A parent should not have the right to ban their children from having friends. A child should have the right to choose their own religion and have access to information like News papers, radio, TV etc..

Children are people so just because they have a parent or two does not mean they get to completely control their children.

Yes. When any old asshole can have a child, some standards need to be applied.

If your child gets seriously sick, you must get them treatment. Not just pray and hope for the best.

All children have the right to live in a home without being abused. If you abuse your kids, you will be punished.

All kids have the right to an education. If you want to homeschool them, you better be qualified and we will check to make sure the kids are learning.

This isn't rocket science. Government can provide standard basic laws for everyone. Just because you're "anti gov" or don't trust the government, doesn't mean you can be given carte blanche to fuck up your kids lives.

The government should only ever be concerned with IF your child is getting a good education, is properly fed according to recommended guidelines, has proper medical care. If there IS abuse and is reported, the proper actions must be taken to protect the child. So yes, to some extent, the government, (I use your word because you didn't specify what government), offices that oversee those aspects of a child's life are assuring the health, safety, and general welfare of the children.

To a very limited extent. Laws against physical abuse but not physical discipline are appropriate. I mean, if your 16 year old daughter announces she’s preggers maybe she deserves a slap in the face. Laws mandating a basic education be it at home or in school and requiring a parent to provide food, clothing, medical care and shelter to the child are also prudent. Anything beyond that…I think no.
