5.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I agree with most of what he said.
Victim mentality and acting like a victim makes one a victim. It's weak.
I am reminded of my first guitar teacher. He was an engineer where my dad was a lead machinist for an large aerospace corporation. At the height of the racial civil unrest and Watts riots of 1965, he came to our lily white neighborhood to give me lessons.
It turned out that he was a tall, slender black man with a goatee. He wasn't just a guitarist but a flamenco master. He had traveled to Spain several times to study. I'm sure he could play jazz like a fiend, too.
That warm, kind, soft spoken man was more educated, worldly and sophisticated than my parents.
I had never met a black man before, but I wound up admiring him greatly. I never thought of black people as inferior since. I reject all forms of bigotry, thanks to him.
He grew up during segregation, yet didn't let that hold him back. He was a rocket engineer! He didn't act like he carried any bitterness or grudges. He was a man.
I still consider him an emissary, a role model, and hero.
Things have changed greatly since 1965. Racism has been legally abolished. Black entertainers are ubiquitous on TV, in film and music. Mixed marriages are common.
So why don't people celebrate the progress that has been made and continue to work for more progress, instead of acting like slavery and segregation still exist? Instead of treating each other as human beings, why is racism toward white people being promoted with mottoes like "Be less white"? How is it helpful to teach children that all white people are racist or that they should feel guilty for being "white" (whatever that is). How does it help either whites or backs to make them believe that whites are privileged?
I am 100% in favor of calling attention to areas that still need to be addressed. I don't think Kaepernick was wrong for calling out police violence any more that it was wrong for Muhammad Ali to speak about racism and refuse the draft, or for Tommie Smith and John Carlos to raise their fists during the National Anthem at the 1968 Olympics.
I believe in free speech and the right to peacefully protest. I was in full support of the civil rights movement and still am. But I'm not in favor of stirring up racism, which is what I think BLM and Critical Race Theory are doing. I'm in favor of uniting as human beings against those few who would enslave us all.
History in schools was always Anglocentric, jingoistic, shallow and often false, teaching, for example, that Indians were savages and the defenders of the Alamo were heroes.
History is complex and nuanced. The founding fathers of this country did great things and also bad things. Slavery was not the reason for the civil war. The southern states were not traitors to this country. Lincoln wasn't all good and Robert E. Lee wasn't all bad. Andrew Jackson, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, Eisenhower, JFK and LBJ did good and bad things. People are people, and they are also a product of their times.
I'm in favor of teaching real history.
I'm not in favor of Critical Race Theory or the 1619 project because those ideas are as biased as the traditional history that was taught.
And speaking of history, maybe we should also learn about neoliberalism and American imperialism.10 Reply

+1 yKudos to you for asking such a great question.
1. Did you notice that asshole in the pink shirt that wouldn't stand? What a tool of the left.
2. 90% of the racism against blacks, is coming from white libtards that hate blacks and just use them as tools to get what they want.
3. I hope the mods or admin elevate this to a featured question, because people need to know that racism is coming from the "woke."45 Reply- +1 y

If he doesn't feel that he's oppressed, who am I to say he is? He knows his own experience better than anyone.

Nobody in this country is oppressed except the heterosexual white Christian conservative male. Blacks want you to believe they are oppressed so they can cash in on reparations, fact is they aren’t. We have laws in this country and when a segment of our society chooses to break those laws on a daily basis and they get caught, they scream racism, profiling, oppression, when in reality it’s simple mathematics… if 14% of the population is committing 80% of the crime, it’s pretty fucking obvious.

+1 ySince this is the nonsensical way you debate. Listen to speech that is an hour and a half long by a "White" guy talking about colorblindness. We can swap youtube videos all day. And you know. . . not watch any of them.

Profiling?
Oh boo hoo!!!
Guess what. If cops are out busting people for drugs in a black neighborhood, what color will most busted people be?
I live In a 99% white suburb. I Live next to a school zone.
At certain times of the day them damn lily white cops are pulling drivers over for driving over the speed limit.
Guess what!!!
Them lily white cops are pulling one race of people over... Guess what color they are!!!
The drivers are 99% white.
Are the police targeting only white drivers for speeding?
Nope!!!
The cops are pulling over the people who are actually driving over the speed limit.
Who would of thought!!!
I say the lily white cops are racially profiling white driver.
Oh wait!!!
The only drivers who are speeding are white.
GET THE POINT?
- +1 y
How does anyone get the point from a rant? You swung and missed on your first attempt. Your view is simply this. . .
"I think I have a valid point because I found a "Black" guy who agrees with me. . . so I will post this video. Because when a "Black" guy agrees with me, my point is unassailable. Because you know. . race doesn't matter. . . except when I need somebody "Black" to agree with me. . . in that case it does".
So since race is neutral, I should be able to cancel out every one of your videos by simply posting a "White" guy who agrees with me.
Where the do you guys go to school? Who reasons like this?
- +1 y
The guy in your video mentioned "racial profiling".
My point is he lost all credibility when he brought up the phony type of "victimization".
As my father always told me:
"Don't put yourself in bad situations and bad things won't happen to you"
So if a black guy stays out of drug infested neighborhoods he won't be suspected of possessing drugs. - +1 y
And you lost credibility the second you posted that video. If race doesn't matter, which is your point, it makes no sense to get someone of my make-believe race to convince me of anything.
If you have a salient point, then make your case. And people will accept it or reject it on the merits.
I don't post Tim Wise to prove my point to racists. I can safely destroy racist arguments unassisted. I need no "White" assistant.
- +1 y
@RolandCuthbert Hey Rolliie Pollie... you are doing a miserable job playing the role of "the victim"!!!
- +1 y
But you do a great job of playing a batshit insane crazed racist fruitcake.
So the Oscar goes to you. - +1 y
@Juxtapose What does that even mean?
Its like you guys speak in code.
Am I "oppressed" in my everyday life? Of course not.
But that's not the question.
What you want, is for "Black" people to say racism does not exist. And of course most "Black" people are not going to say that, since we experience it daily.
- +1 y
If you were actually oppressed then you would not be so hesitant to say so lol. It was a very simple question.
If I was told to drink at a different water fountain you bet your ass I would not shut up about it. And news flash, white people experience racism, Asian people experience racism, indian people experienced racism, etc. - +1 y
@Juxtapose So saying that I am not oppressed in my everyday life is not saying that I am not oppressed in my everyday life?
You guys need to stop smoking crack.
I don't consider most online racists like you. . . oppressive. You are a nuisance. But have racists had me fearing for my life before? Of course. Numerous times.
As for "White" people experiencing racism, that isn't your point. Your point is I should be quiet about racists and the racism I have experienced. And I won't be.
If you like the racism you have experienced, good for you. I can be racist to you right now if you enjoy it so much. But worrying about what a racist asshole can do to my nephews, my nieces, my mother and relatives/friends is no fun for me.
And it should not be for anyone. But I can't speak for you. You have to do that.
- +1 y
@Juxtapose So because I call you what you are, I am the one that is sensitive. I didn't call you a name. I called you what you are based upon your beliefs in race and in the rankings or responsibilities of racial groupings.
Flip that. Do you think I give two cents what you call me?
You don't know who or what you are. I have no doubts as to who I am.
- +1 y
@Juxtapose I don''t assume anything. We all know what the definition of racism is. . . or at least we should know.
a belief that race is a fundamental determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
You claim that "Blacks" have favoritism in a nation where we could be murdered legally, no due process, no court case as late as the 1960s. You see George Floyd choked to death on camera. Philandro Castile shot to death on camera. Eric Garner murdered on camera. And who does that make you mad at? The "Black" people who would rather not be murdered by police. And have the nerve to want justice for the people died in front of us all.
And the thing is, your racism isn't the issue. Its the insane crazed aspect of it. . . that somehow "Blacks" should agree to the unjust, racist treatment of other "Blacks". Even the KKK recognizes that "Black" folks won't do that.
- +1 y
Nice strawman just cus I disagree with BLM xD
I don't even believe in "race", it is for the scientifically illiterate. Race is literally just a series of arbitrary phenotypes.
Your skin is darker than mine, so what? It doesn't change your humanity.
ALL lives matter. Black, purple, whatever. - +1 y
@Juxtapose Really? You disagree with the concept that "Black" lives should matter? Or just with an organization that uses the initials BLM?
Do you even know the difference?
Because this is definitely not about your lack of support for BLM. I didn't even know what BLM was until I came to GaG. A freaking relationship forum. I kept being asked questions about it and accused of being a member, because that's just how insane batshit crazy racism is.
Why would you post something so hypocritical? And it isn't really about skin color, right? "White" supremacy has always used race as a proxy for culture/history. You are not fooling anyone but yourself. - +1 y
@Juxtapose You really think I going to comb through posts to show you how you really feel?
How about this? If I can be called the n-word, backwards monkey, and stinky gorilla here. . . knowing that I am none of those things. Perhaps you can figure out to withstand being called a racist based upon your beliefs.
Just sayin'.
Maybe your entire definition of being snowflake is wrong.
+1 yIf he doesn't feel oppressed than liberals shouldn't try to help out an issue that doesn't exist to him. As another black male I can list things I don't feel oppressed about but some liberals considered me as oppressed for no reason.
