With idiots like Musk or Bezos we may see fancy moon hotels or space transport that works inefficiently and below the promised specifications - but no ''colonies' that actually WORK..
I can imagine that nearby space bodies will be mined for resources.
Life on Earth in the 'near' future... I expect it to be troublesome.
The wrong kind of people makes the decisions; an even larger portion of 'us' is too dumb to offer a change.
'We' are quick with technology; but 'we' are slow learners about handling ourselves.

I think it's gonna bore us by then regardless of what happens. I had this guest asshole speaker called Ray Kurzweil (a former engineer who accomplished some interesting work in text-to-speech synthesis but started making all his money selling technology prophecies to gullible idiots) in my university and he projected that we'd all be "cyborgs" by the early-mid 2000s.
By his definition we did become "cyborgs" but he defended it by saying we are already "cyborgs" because we had iPods and iPhones and things strapped to us. He considered that satisfactory to his definition of "cyborg".
Also at the time, he gave that speech to us, he said that singularity will happen already by the mid-2020s. He's now changed his stance to 2045 but he was already telling us that someone like him (now 73 years old) can have his consciousness live forever in machines provided he doesn't get hit by a bus.
I always got a major "fraud" and "snakes oil salesman" vibe from people like him, but one thing they taught me is that the future is going to be way more boring than we imagine it. If there's any chance of it being exciting by today's standards, it'll be boring soon enough.100 years from now, I fully expect there to be a small colony on Mars and perhaps a mining outpost on the moon. However, I think even that far in the future, they will be very dependent on aide from Earth in order to continue to operate. It'll be a few centuries more before they become self-sufficient.
100 years from now, I think AI and androids will be commonplace. They will do repetitive or dangerous tasks that people don't want to do.
100 years from now, there will be great poverty as overpopulation leaves too few resources to go around. Famine will be frequent. Fighting for farmland will take place, as entire nations may be wiped out for the sole purpose of having space to produce food.
In 100 years, energy-based weaponry will be used in warfare, alongside traditional bullets. AI-controlled drones will do most of the actual combat, though there will always be a need for soldiers. Cyberwarfare will be where the bulk of our efforts go.
In 100 years, the world will be full of wonders and horrors in equal measure. Not unlike today or 100 years ago. The more things change, the more they stay the same.Read "2081: A Hopeful View of the Human Future" by Dr. Gerard K. O'Neill.
Farming Colony on Mars. Would be cool if like Star Wars we used the moon as a between station for medical research and supplies and a cargo facility between Earth and Mars. Maybe throw a hotel or two on both and have richies spend their money going there to keep things well funded lol
Where i think we are, we will be much the same for another hundred and twenty years or so from now. But after that we will either move forward or set ourselves back.
This is just a guess, but we wouldn't see space colonies for around two hundred year if we get past this lull is progression. On Mars you have carbon dioxide atmosphere, freezing temperatures, dust and radiation to worry about.
https://www.space.com/36800-five-ways-to-die-on-mars.htmlWell... 50 years ago we landed men on the moon. Today we can't seem to figure out who uses the boys' room and who uses the girls' room. In 50 or 100 years? Maybe we will have devolved back into chimpanzees.
There will be no colonies in space hopefully. Long term Mars will realise they dont need Earth and separate. Observe how colonies in the New World declared independence from the Europeans and you will realise humans will do the same shit except in space.
It seems unlikely to me that there will be colonies of humans in space. Space is extremely hostile to human life. The cost of travel beyond the moon is enormous, and the travel times are extremely long.
A lot of people think the future will be like what you see on Star Trek. I think it will be more like Mad Max.
I hiope that it doesn't happen before we destroy feminism and marxism because it would be better for humans to go extinct than to perpetuate marxism intyo space.
#ProNuclearWarI'm not so convinced that civilization will exist on this planet in 30 years.
We missed the cut off on flying cars. So I imagine just like today but with 10G brain cellphones.
We might be on mars at least
