I want to add another source about Missing White Woman Syndrome...The Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology is a 111-year old peer-reviewed journal.In 2016, a study was done to see if "Missing White Woman Syndrome" was real. scholarlycommons.law.northwestern.edu/.../...t.cgi=====================Journal of Criminal Law and CriminologyVolume 106 Issue 2 Article 4Spring 2016Missing White Woman Syndrome: An Empirical Analysis of Race and Gender Disparities in OnlineNews Coverage of Missing PersonsZach SommersLaw and Science Fellow, Northwestern University.Recommended CitationZach Sommers, Missing White Woman Syndrome: An Empirical Analysis of Race and Gender Disparities in Online News Coverage of Missing Persons, 106 J. ABSTRACT:At any given time, there are tens of thousands of Americanscategorized as “missing” by law enforcement. However, only a fraction ofthose individuals receive news coverage, leading some commentators tohypothesize that missing persons with certain characteristics are morelikely to garner media attention than others: namely, white women andgirls. Empirical investigation into this theory is surprisingly sparse andalso limited in multiple ways. This paper aims to fill those voids byempirically exploring whether that inequality, dubbed “Missing WhiteWoman Syndrome,” truly exists. Based on a multi-method approach usingFederal Bureau of Investigation data and data culled from four majoronline news sources, the results indicate not only that there are, in fact,race and gender disparities consistent with Missing White WomanSyndrome, but that they manifest themselves in two distinct ways: (1)disparities in the threshold issue of whether a missing person receives anymedia attention at all; and (2) disparities in coverage intensity among themissing persons that do appear in the news. The paper concludes with anexamination of the theoretical and practical implications of the results anda discussion of possible future directions for research.(more)
CONCLUSION...... the findings of this study remain persuasive. The race and gender disparities are evidentacross multiple sources and using multiple methods of analysis. The disparities are also quite large and, for the most part, consistent with the differences predicted by MWWS. As always, future research that can replicate or more precisely test the hypotheses of this article would help reaffirm its conclusions. Still, the results of the analyses here help confirm that Missing White Woman Syndrome is a real, empirical phenomenon. Based on these results and in the words of Charles Ramsey, it is safe to say that “something is wrong here.”

Such an apt response from a guy with a BMW logo as his avatar.
30 white girls have with no media to I bet.
30 Asian girls30 Indian
I would also bet that, honestly. In my personal opinion it is when poor people go missing that the media ignores it. That just happens to correlate well with race, but it is by no stretch a p=1 situation.
Reservations are sovereign territory. If those girls went missing off a reservation those cases aren’t under U. S. jurisdiction. That is if it’s even true. Those are cases for the reservation police to solve. Also do you really believe 700+ people could go missing and the authorities do nothing about it? Half the country got burned down last summer over the perception of like 20-30 black people being murdered by police. Do you really think 700 people of any race can go missing and no one says a word? No one is leveling charges against the state of Wyoming. In fact no one has said one word about the 700 missing girls until Gabby went missing. Least of all Joy Reid at MSNBC - the champion of racial injustice…whose so quick to make statements about missing white girls but sure didn’t care enough about Indians to do a segment on the supposed 700 missing Indians. With the media as keen as it is to highlight any racial injustice, whether true or not do you really think they missed the the opportunity to talk about 700 missing girls who certainly are brown skinned and are missing and nobody is doing anything about it? Really?You shouldn’t believe everything you hear.
Seems that way
All over now
Everyone is the victim EXCEPT Straight white men. We all know they’re oppressors and are never the victim regardless of circumstances.
@Exterminatore who's a suspect
@wowgirlLiberalism. People who define whites as oppressors.
What is her problem?
The list is too long but she raised an issue that if Gabby was black, this wouldn't be a national story and wouldn't still be in the news. She's just a race baiter.
That may seem like race-baiting to White racists, but the fact is that it's true.It's unfortunate... but true.
If it's such a big deal, why doesn't Joy Reid keep similar stories not involving whites in the news? She's in the media. She's as guilty as everyone else... even more so.
